Owned by

Associated Venue: Birrificio Ostiense Artigianale
Established in 2004
We were born in 2004 on the seashore of Rome thanks to the love (and passion) for beer made with artisanal methods of our founders, Elio Miceli and Massimo Salvatori, who produced raw beer without any treatment at their Brew Pub located in Ostia on the Roman coast, right in front of the sea.
Then in 2005 thanks to the skills achieved, the experience gained, but above all thanks to the meeting with the master brewer Ioan Bratuleanu, we began to broaden our range of action by increasing and diversifying production. The great demand of our beers led us in 2010 to the opening of our plant in Fiumicino, a few kilometers from Ostia, effectively inserting us into the market of producers of craft beers with our brands Birradamare and Birra Roma.
In July 2017 Birradamare became part of the international Molson Coors group.

330ml bottle from Beers of Europe. Hazy orange colour with a one finger off-white head. Strong smoky aroma, meaty like beef or pork, touch of sour citrus fruit, slightly sulphuric. Taste of smoky sweet fruity malts. Very slow, soft carbonation. Smooth mouthfeel. To be honest I’m not a fan of smoked beers, this seemed good though, I suspect it would be better to drink with a meaty dinner rather than on its own.

330ml bottle from Beers of Europe. Hazy orange colour with a large 3-4 finger frothy off-white head. Aroma is very herbal and floral, rosemary, citrus, malt. Taste is also really herbal and floral, rosemary, mint, lots of citrussy lime flavour, light malt. Bittersweet. Heavy carbonation.
Interesting one, haven’t ever had a beer like this before. For me I found that the herb flavours linger and are a little too strong. It makes me think of a Desperados but with a load of herbs added, but not in a bad way. That said, it’s probably not something I’d buy again.

A murky brown ale with a thick frothy lacing mocha head, gushed. In aroma, sweet fruity caramel malt with loads of nutty notes, resinous floral hops, light coffee grind, musty character, nice. In mouth, a nice toasted malt with light vinous notes piney floral hops, caramel candy, smooth alcohol warmth, very nice, for a 3 yr old ale.

Tap @Open Baladin, Roma. Clear amber, white froth. Meaty, smoky aroma. Flavour has light smoke, some caramel and a touch of citrus. Hoppy bitter finish. Not bad.

Sample bottle from Dunns. Appearance - cloudy amber to brown with a thin head. Nose - dark honey. Taste - red fruits and more honey. A hit sour and winey but not sure that’s intended. Palate - light to medium bodied with a tangy texture and a fairly decent tangy finish. Overall -

Light haze on this gold beer, tidy off white head. Palate is light, dry and fairly crisp. Thin pale malts. A little pithy orange and a mild but zippy lemon. Light crisp finish. Clean, simple and refreshing.

Hazy gold beer, tidy pale cream colour head. Palate is light, dry and mildly crisp. Thin malts. Fair bit of herb here, fruity basil and rosemary. It’s smooth and never too much but it is very herbal and I don’t want to drink the whole bottle but at the same time I really do not dislike it! Conflicted!

Light haze on this gold beer, good fluffy white head. Palate is light, mildly dry and has reasonable fine carbonation. Tangy pale malts, somewhat bready. Tangy floralness in to mild ripe fruits. Airy finish. Not bad.

Lightly hazy amber beer, tidy pale cream colour head. Palate is light and semi dry, reasonable fine carbonation. Tangy caramel malts. A vague Sour Red/Brown vibe here. Modest bitterness and a pinch of spice. Ripe citrus before a malty, slightly lagerish finish. Entertaining.

500ml bottle in a box bought a couple of years ago. Shared at a rating session with djoeye and Finn. A filmy layer to an unclear apricot coloured body. Fragile lacing. Dough, caramel and dried fruity aroma. Candy sweet flavours alongside moments of almond, caramel and dried fruits. Sweet and dry endnotes. Alright, a tad too sweet though (Tromsø 01.02.2016).
