Birradamare
Microbrewery

Italy 🇮🇹
Owned by
Molson Coors
Associated Venue: Birrificio Ostiense Artigianale
Established in 2004
We were born in 2004 on the seashore of Rome thanks to the love (and passion) for beer made with artisanal methods of our founders, Elio Miceli and Massimo Salvatori, who produced raw beer without any treatment at their Brew Pub located in Ostia on the Roman coast, right in front of the sea.
Then in 2005 thanks to the skills achieved, the experience gained, but above all thanks to the meeting with the master brewer Ioan Bratuleanu, we began to broaden our range of action by increasing and diversifying production. The great demand of our beers led us in 2010 to the opening of our plant in Fiumicino, a few kilometers from Ostia, effectively inserting us into the market of producers of craft beers with our brands Birradamare and Birra Roma.
In July 2017 Birradamare became part of the international Molson Coors group.

12/IX/14 - 50cl bottle @ home tasting with Sebletitje - BB: XII/2017, 2012 vintage, bottle 0271/1100 (2014-994) Thanks to Sebletitje for sharing the bottle!
Clear dark brown beer, huge creamy beige head, pretty stable, bit adhesive. Aroma: funky, red fruits, cherries, earthy, red wine, bit dirty. MF: lots of carbon, medium body. Taste: sweet start, sugary, caramel, dried fruits, red berries, some raspberries, sourish, bit lemony, strawberry candy. Aftertaste: bit sweet, caramel, bit of mocha, caramel, dried fruits, dark cherries, bit sweet, soft fruity sourness. Wow! Nice surprise, the smell promised one of those puckering dry red wine sourness beers with bitter tannins, but it turned out to be completely different. Lovely!

Bottle @ home shared by Dutchdrebus. Hazy amber color, small off-white head that leaves fair lacing but diminishes fairly quickly. Weird aroma of some kind of fruits mixed with malts and old hops. Taste malts, herbal smoky bitterness, slightly a touch of nailpolish remover. Don’t like it at all.

Bottle @ home shared with Dutchdrebus and Ansjelaah. Hazy pale orange color, virtually no head. Smell and taste fruits, orange, grapes, lightly citrussy. Lightly fruit peel bitterness, average body, average to medium carbonation.

Bottle @ benzai. Amber colour with a medium sized off-white head. Smells some wood, some alcohol, some glue, malts. Tastes malts, bitter, sweetish. Annoyingly bitter somehow. Thin to medium body, soft carbo.

Schwarzbier from a young micro brewery in Rome, carrying a light beige, creamy, stable head and very dark bronze colour, almost black, as typical for this style. Cold coffee aroma with hints of caramel, tobacco, dried figues and liquorice. Taste a dry chocolatey and caramelly maltiness, some dried fruit, light spicy tones, smoky touch, finishing in a long, dry toasted bitterness. More than average example of its style.
