Owned by
Molson Coors
Associated Venue: Birrificio Ostiense Artigianale
Established in 2004
We were born in 2004 on the seashore of Rome thanks to the love (and passion) for beer made with artisanal methods of our founders, Elio Miceli and Massimo Salvatori, who produced raw beer without any treatment at their Brew Pub located in Ostia on the Roman coast, right in front of the sea.
Then in 2005 thanks to the skills achieved, the experience gained, but above all thanks to the meeting with the master brewer Ioan Bratuleanu, we began to broaden our range of action by increasing and diversifying production. The great demand of our beers led us in 2010 to the opening of our plant in Fiumicino, a few kilometers from Ostia, effectively inserting us into the market of producers of craft beers with our brands Birradamare and Birra Roma.
In July 2017 Birradamare became part of the international Molson Coors group.

Red amber colour with a fine off white head. Fruity, caramel malt and some smoked notes in the aroma. Medium body and a round sweetness. Fruity with a solid malt background. Some smoked notes and also a bit acidic.

0.33l bottle from #416. This one also pops out of the bottle seconds after popping the cap. Experienced as I am with these Birradamare beers, I opened it over my kitchen sink so no catastrophic consequences here. Anyhow, it pours a deep dark brown body with a medium sized somewhat lasting brown little top. The nose is light roasted and kinda coffee acidic. Some thin chocolate paper also in here. It's creamy and almost lively on the carbonation. The flavors are not all bad either. Coffee and chocolate, the light burned kind with that clear soft gentle acidic touch found in the aroma. Some might say that it's a bit thin and almost on the border of being watery, but it's undoubtedly light drinkable, chocolaty, smooth and quite flavorful. I liked this. 19.10.2012

0.33l bottle from lotto 420. It's a gusher! Not extreme, but definitely enough that I'm glad I opened it in the kitchen. It pours a fantastic looking heavy cloudy honey-colored body that's literally glowing in the glass with a medium sized light bubbly and heavy lacing white top. On the nose it's light malt-sweet, some thin fruitiness also. All in all quite subtle, and it smells like a softly sweetened and fruity pilsner really. It's soft to average on the carbonation and light oily to watery on the mouthfeel. Really easy drinking' this. A soft hoppy and floral bitterness all the way. Hint's of something grassy and thin fruity. Nothing extraordinary, well except for the amazing appearance, but not horrible in the taste - considering it being an Italian pilsner that gushed. 19.10.2012

0.33l bottle from #412. This is a heavy cloudy plum-amber one with a nice big beige top that sticks around for a while. On the nose it's light chocolaty and caramel-sticky-sweet with a few fruity hints. Definitely not extreme, but nice in a subtle way. It's average on the carbonation and kinda fizzy-oily on the mouthfeel. Fruity, sweet and light nutty flavors. Some sweet dried fruits, figs perhaps, and dome red amber malts. Reminds me a bit of home made strawberry ice popsicles in a strange way. Enjoyable indeed. 19.10.2012

0.33l bottle from #367. This is a light blurry golden-honey colored one totally packed with small particles floating about in the glass and a medium sized heavy lacing off-white top. On the nose I get some ripe fruits - the sweet kind. It's softly smoky as well with some ham and sausage. It's average to lively on the carbonation and it has a fizzing oily mouthfeel. Clear thin fruity flavor, more soft smoke, straws and tones of sausage and mint. Wet old grass and leafs in the finish. A bit on the sweet side, but interesting. Not completely mine thang though, but no off-flavors what so ever. 19.10.2012

0.33l bottle from #414. This is a heavy cloudy - almost on the border of murky orange-amber one with a massive big and heavy both lacing and lacing off-white fluffy top and some thick heavy sediments in the bottle of the glass. Smells both hoppy and fruity this. Sweet peaches, apricots and mango. Tropical and really nice. Perhaps even some passion fruit and rambutan in this one. It's average+ on the carbonation with a near sticky-oily mouthfeel. Strong hoppy bitterness in the flavor! Resinous hoppy and almost woody-bitter with a lovely fruity touch. Some grapefruit zest - the white part, with a near grape seed bitterness in the drymouthing bitter finish. Some warming going on also in the back of the throat. APA? No, this is a IPA. A pushy powerful one. 19.10.2012

330ml comes in a cool bottle design and pours a misty apricot coloured body and a frothy, off-white head with lots of bubbles. Plain fresh and dry hoppy aroma. Flavoured with fresh noble hops, some impact of mid-sweet malts and a note of spices. Lingering fruit bitter finish. Pleasant drink. Bottle from Vinmonopolet Valkendorf, shared with Finn (Tromsø, 04.10.2012).

330ml cute bottle, 6.3% abv, from Vinmonopolet Valkendorf in Bergen. Shared with Finn at a session back home. Noisy pour building a hazy, dark orange coloured body with a minimal off-white head and a few rings of lace. Aroma of dusty hops and caramel malts. Dried fruity taste together with semi-tart berries and grainy malts. Malty-fruity ending. Quite alright (Tromsø, 04.10.2012).

330ml bottle, lotto 367, from Vinmonopolet Valkendorf, Bergen. Shared at a rating session with Finn. Unclear golden coloured body. Diminishing white head. Dotted spots to the glassware. Dry fruity smell with a touch of bacon beneath. The taste profile is rather complex with smoked malts, nuts, wood and some hints of tannin. Malt-fruity ending. Unusual and quite tasty (Tromsø, 20.09.2012).
