Cask pint in the Ryde (IoW) Wetherspoons on 13th March 2017. Deep golden/amber body, white head. Malty brew from start to finish, caramel and other malty molasses type aromas and flavours (toffee mostly alongside the caramel): yet not too sweet, the hops doing a fairly good balancing act to keep everything calm and happy. Liked it.

Fra fat på The George, The Strand (London), mars-17: klar rødlig mahogny med ok skum. Mild duft av hvete, urter og sukkertøy. Myk og lettdrikkelig med hvetemalt, karamell, urter (og et par pepperkorn helt i slutten).

Fra håndpumpe på The Mossy Well, Muswell Hill (London): klar rødlig kobber med kort skum. Maltdrevet aroma og smak med forsiktig bitterhet - litt gress og urter. Balansert men uinteressant.

Cask at Swan, Farnborough. Sweet aroma. Honey and biscuits. Dark gold. A good thick creamy head. Light bitter with sour notes. Gets sweeter towards the finish. Malty. Hints of the aroma. But not much going on. Light bodied. A tad slick on the tongue and back of the teeth. Light carbonation. Short finish. Nice but bland.

Cask at Swann Inn, Farnborough. I believe this is an Oktoberfest special but no details on the tap other than name and ABV. Little aroma, other than a vague vinegar whiff. A hazy amber. Decent enough head but very blotchy. Starts off sweet before developing a sharp bitterness. Light bodied, slightly slick mouthfeel. Guess it’s a wheat ale but more of a bittter/wheat cross. Not great but may have the last few pints from the cask and potentially going off (two of us weren’t sure on that).

Half pint, cask ale at Lounge. Spotty lacing from a clear dark brown body. Filmy layer. Aroma of caramel. Taste of caramel, nuts and herbal hops. Bittersweet end. Smooth and clean tasting. Nice (Plymouth 24.09.2016).

Tap at Swan Inn, Farnborough. 07/10/16. Aroma? Dark chestnut. Medium beige head. Slightly bitter. Cheap chocolate, a hint of orange peel. Bitterness increases in the finish. Thick bodied, slick. Flat. OK. Surprisingly flavourless. Zzzzz.
