(Bottle, Monk’s Café, Stockholm) Dark brown colour with reddish hints, frothy pale brown head. Malty nose with notes of dark rye bread, ryvita, dried fruit (raisins, prunes) and burnt toffee. Malty taste with chocolate, toffee, dark rye bread, raisins, prunes and a slightly spicy finish. Rather full body, rather sweet. Very malty. Nice, traditional doppelbock. (7/4/7/4/14=3.6) Rerate: (Bottle, 9 Apr 2023) Dark brown colour with frothy, beige head. Malty, slightly roasted nose with dried fruit, figs, dark bread, treacle-toffee, chocolate and orange peel. Malty, slightly roasted taste with notes of fruit cake, treacle toffee, dried figs, chocolate, spices, orange peel and a fairly low bitterness in a sweetish finish. More than medium body, quite sweet. Harmonious and well balanced. Very nice.

Draft at Stockholm Beer Festival 2007. A hazy amber beer with a cream colored head. The aroma is sweet spicy with what reminds me of Belgian yeast notes. The flavor is sweet malty and both very spicy and fruity.

Herber Kräuterantrunk, angenehm würzig, da mus ich unweigerlich noch mal auf die Zutatenliste gucken - nein, keine Sonderzutaten. Der Hopfen schimmert deutlich durch, da die Würzigkeit im Mitteil abnimmt ist er hier besser zu erkennen. Weiter herb mit deutlichen Kräuternoten, ebenso der Abgang, in dem das Bier leicht bitter wird. Schönes Pils. Mild malzig-frischer Antrunk, in dem ein eher grasig schmeckender Hopfen emporkommt. Die Würzigkeit ist nicht stark ausgeprägt aber in ausreichendem Maße vorhanden. Mit der Zeit wird das Biert etwas malziger, die Frische bleibt erhalten und steht im Abgang alleine. Das Bier ist nicht besonders vielschichtig, schmeckt aber trotzdem ordentlich und ist vor allem sehr süffig. Danke an AUXBURG1986. Süß-malziger Antrunk. Die Süße gerät schnell in den Hintegrund, das recht ausfüllende Malz ist deutlich im Vordergrund, eine leichte Hopfigkeit geht darin unter. Der Aromenverlauf ist recht einfach, am Anfang des Mittelteils ist die richtige Mischung gefunden, das ausfüllende Malz hat sich mit einer leichten Herbe verbunden, die Süße ist höchstens im Hintergrund auffindbar. Das Aroma wirkt trocken, das gewisse Etwas fehlt. Eine Veränderung findet nun nicht mehr statt, das Aroma verläuft ebenso weiter, der Nachgeschmack sit bei diesem Bier der deutliche Schwachpunkt, die Aromen sacken ersatzlos ab, schnell schmeckt man nichts mehr. (Draught at Monk’s Café, Stockholm, 31 Oct 2007) Brownish orange colour, hazy, with frothy white head. Malty nose with notes of dark bread, dried fruit and tart hints of citrus. Malty, fruity taste with dried fruit, dark bread and slightly tart, citrussy notes of hops. More citrussy than expected, probably due to the fact that an english ale yeast has been used. Easy to drink and refreshing.

Bottled at Monk’s Café, Stockholm. Clear maogany colour. dense firm head. Rich aroma of caramelly malt with a touch of paper. Sweet and full bodied with soft Salvator like thick, syrupy intensive malt character. Loads of caramel but low on hops. A school book old style doppelbock. A malt bomb.
