Hazy golden. Aroma is yeast light banana and blood orange. Taste is yeasty mealy with fruity light sweet base and some bitter spices. Nice balance with rich mealy texture. Good.

Bottle. Clear dark gold sporting a decent white head. Aroma of malts, grains and straw. Taste of grains, straw, malts and bread with a little alcoholic presence. Moderate bitterness. Medium carbonation. This is alright. After having had a look at the label and the name my expectations were ultra low but surprisingly this turned out to be the winner in today’s battle of the (weak) Helles.

On tap at Zur Waldbahn Hotel, Zwiesel, Saturday 25th December 2022 after a 11km hike, the Stockauwiesen Loop Walk No 27. Pours clear mid/dark brown with an off white head, tangy fruity edge to this, simple and well executed Dunkel.

Bottle courtesy of the owners, had this Friday 23rd December 2022, Langdorf, Bayern National Forest area, about to cook a Pistachio and Chicken Curry, listening to Huw Stephens standing in for Steve Lamaq on 6Music. Pours dark reddy/brown, hazy with a clinging off white head. Tangy fruity with some dark fruit skins, a little dryness, softness, good Dunkel.

Aus der Flasche (bbe 05.06.2023) im 2022-12 getrunken. Diese dunkelbraune Bier kommt mit leicht süßlich/säuerlichen Aromen eines Schwarzbieres daher. Kein schlechtes Bier aber etwas beliebig.

Aus der Flasche (bbe 11.06.2023) im 2022-12 getrunken. Dieses braune Bier mit rötlichen Reflexen kommt mit einen süffigen, malzigen Körper und feine Süße daher. Sicher ein sehr gute Begleiter zum Essen!

Aus der Flasche (bbe 30.04.2023) im 2022-12 getrunken. Dieses leichte, bernsteinfarbende Bier kommt mit sehr leichten Hefearomen und kaum Hopfeneinfluss daher. Ein unkomplizierter Durstlöschen für den Sommer!

Bottle picked up from the brewery in Zwiesel and consumed at home Saturday 22nd October 2022 listening to Nova Twins on Tidal we are cooking Greek Lamb Meatballs, Feta and Tomato Bake for tea tonight. Pours chestnut brown, excellent clarity with an off white head. Difficult to categorise, but with a nod towards a bitter but clearly in a germanic lager style, soft moutheel, a little fruity, malty. Fine.

Bottle picked up from the brewery in Zwiesel and consumed at home Wednesday 19th October 2022 listening to Steve Lamaq on 6Music, heating up homemade Cannelloni. I suspect that this like the similarly named Hefe Weisse is simply a rebranding of their regular Dunkel Weizen, however it's clearly a different name and I couldn't see the other in the brewery Getränkemarkt the other day, ok I wasn't really looking but regardless it never jumped out that there were two different versions of the same style. Appearance is dark, hazy brown with a dirty off white head. A little bit of cola, caramel and certainly banana on the palate, soft moutheel, nice light fruity sweetness, good in fact this style has dropped over the last couple of years to be one of my go to German styles to being one I'm less enamoured with, but this is good.
