Cask @ Mason’s Arms, Todmorden. Golden with a small head. Has a metallic aroma like a used Horby railway set. It’s slightly more neutral in its taste with a fruitness trying but failing to appear. A session ale.

Deep amber brown in colour, no head. This has a fruity pale ale character with some grain in the aftertaste. Sweet nose.

Bottle. Not quite all black but getting there, and without a head. This has a blend of old ale sweetness and roasted malts associated with a stout and the fine balance makes it a very tasty brew.

Cask at Three Judges. It pours deep ruby with a small beige head. The nose is earth, red berry, jam, cherryade and permanent marker pen. The taste is smooth, toast, earth, dried fruit, red berry, faint jam and light tartness with a dry finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Nice red berry action going on. Very drinkable.

Bottle: Nose is cereal, a touch of earth, but lots and lots of toast. Taste, is cereal and toast I did not get the citrus, there is the faintest hint of peach in the yeast, but nothing to note. Finish is dry and bitter. A middle of the road bitter your dad would like.

Has a full tropical fruit aroma and taste. At the Clitheroe Beer Festival this was golden with a small head.

Has a small tropical fruit aroma and taste, but weak in the latter due to its texture. Copper coloured without a head at Clitheroe Beer Festival.

Cask ale, half at the White Star. White patchy head to a near-clear golden body. Good lacing. Floral aroma with citrus notes. Dry lemony hops in flavour as well as a bite of earthy malts. Dry bitter ending. On par with the style (Liverpool, 08.04.2013).

Half pint, cask by handpump at The White Star. Clear amber coloured body, bubbly ring to the rim of the surface. Hay and leafy aroma with a distant malty impact. Flavoured with grassy and leafy hops together with nut-like malts. Dry bitter ending. Easy going, not that thin (Liverpool, 08.04.2013).

Bottle from the Spar in Crumpsall, Manchester. Think head with a pleasing dark brown. Nice earthy stout aroma, a hint of spiced fruit,. Taste is expected from the nose, sweet with dark fruits, malt and touch of liquorice. The mouthfeel is disappointingly thin. It’s not a bad beer, very workaday, there is nothing to bring one back.
