2004 draught @ CasaBlanca in Harvard Square. Deep ruddy brown color, with auburn and ruby highlights. Not completely clear, some transluscent haze to it. No head, quite bubbly. Aroma of moderately sweet plums, sweet toffee, some slight notes of roast and of course, caramel. Flavor is more of the same. Very sweet. The caramel is sticky and wraps around the tongue. Lightly toasty notes mix with earthy graininess. Ripe berries and lots of plum and figs. Caramel sweetness seems to abate some on the finish. An ever so slight bitterness appears on the finish in place of some of the caramel malt, but it is still no match for the sweet, lightly sticky body. Medium body, some wateriness on the end. Well-made and flavorful, but it just gets very boring by the end of the pint. Too much sweet plum-like fruit and caramel. Needs more yeast apparency (of which it has none). Some tart cherry or black currant notes, which it mentions in the description, would add good balance.

On tap at the Syracuse Holiday Brewfest Dec.04 2004. Dark golden ale with a light head. Nice fresh malt aroma. Good crisp malt with biscuity note. Very light bodied. Some faint hops in finish.

Paid $1.49 for a 12-oz single. No kidding, just as the name says, this beer is copper... small white head. Armoa contains some apple scents in it’s maltiness. Taste is deeply malty, kinda funky. Ehh, nothing to tell someone else about.

Amber color smallish head. Intense caramel aroma. The maltiness percieved in the aroma failed to show in the flavor. Mild hop in the finish. Big promises that weren’t fully realized, but still an enjoyable brew.

This pours out a medium amber color that would sparkle if it weren’t for a bit of haze. The tall head lasts and fights to the end sticking to the glass trying to keep from being pulled into the beer. The aroma is malty with a fruity, ripe melon aroma. The flavor is sweet with a lightly bitter finish, but no real hop flavor until the end. The sweetness reminds me of a Mild. The hopping in this is very restrained, a good choice for the non-hophead. Different, drinkable medium bodied brew.

Paid $1.20 for a 12-oz single. Light amber, with a golden tinge... small head. Lovely grapefuity hoppy aroma. Flavor is quite subdues and slightly metallic. With a nice aroma like this beer has, the flavor is awfully lacking. Kinda thin and watery in the mouth too. Not a bad beer overall... it’s inexpensive, so that works to its benefit.

Pale golden coloured body with some hazy highlights and a frothy white head that goes away quickly. Aroma of coriander seed, lemons, cloves and some wheat. Light to Medium-bodied; Decent flavour of spice & sweetness with little else, fairly bland and subtle for the style. Aftertaste showcases some of the coriander seed freshness. Overall, an alright beer, but I was expecting much more from an otherwise top-notch brewer! I sampled this on ’pseudo-draught’ at the Old Dominion Brew Festival 2004 on 27-June-2004 in Ashburn, Virginia.
