Near black beer with a thick, creamy, dark-beige/foxy head. Sweet-smelling, some dark fruit as brambles, sweet plums, a little liquorice, and I seem to get some coriander blending in. Light sourish lining around mainly sweet-spicy beer; coriander even more obvious. Soft, mild stoutlike, spicy and slightly fruity. Velvety, pretty rich MF, without being really pompous as some. Nice, not overpowering but that hasn’t always to be the case, no? I could have done with a little less coriander, however.

In your face aroma with loads of coffee grounds with lesser amounts of burnt malts and a hint of alcohol. The flavor starts with a sense of the big ole ABV (but totally in check) followed by the big coffee noted in the nose followed by some dark chocolate and a hint of dark fruity esters. Toward the finish the coffee slowly gives way to a delicious velvety dark chocolate note. YUM.

Bottle shared by Odeed! Nose of coffee, chocolate , and a little tartness; Beutiful apearing, absolutely black when lined up with the sun with a very small cinnamon tan head; flavor showed up a some tartness, a little bitterness, and light chocolate and alcohol, but not much else; After coming to 65 degrees it tasted better and the tartness pretty much diasappeared, but is this really a top 50 Impy?

Opaque black color, not much head, just some brown foam. Raisins and plums in the nose. Sweet, but not overly sugary. Raisins and some other sweeties are there in the flavor. Alcohol is evident but not disturbing. Drinkable quite enjoyable, but propably too fresh and sweetish, not really complex beer either. Re-rate on bottle after some years would be nice.

Dark ruby color, small expresso head. Christmas cookies, cinnamon, roasted malts and coffee beans in the nose. Liquerish mouthfeel with roasted malts, licorice and Christmas spices. Quite "easy to drink" considering the style and ABV. This didn’t quite hit my sweet spot.

Noogfest A big, fluffy, off-white head forms easily over this clear, dark gold bodied brew. Subtle hop aroma. A big bitterness arrives early in the flavor department and leaves the malts trying to catch up the whole time. A bit out of balance to me.

Bottle pours a medium tawney amber witha small skin of a light tan head and traces of lacing. Aroma is sweet brown sugary malts with some alcohol and bitter woody hops. rather bright hoppy flavor for a BW and plenty of thick malty goodness. ABV is up there but does not dominate. Nice. Thanks Harlequin

Bottle. Creamy lightbrown excellent mostly lasting head. Black colour. Heavy malty and hoppy aroma. Chocolate and vanilla notes. Heavy bitter flavor. Fantastic powerfull bitter loooong finish. Chocolat and vanilla is dominating flavors, not coffee. Fantastic creamy palate. Wonderfull beer.

[Another century celebrated with a Mikkeller beer - this time 9500] Bottled. An almost black beer, but with a red shine under a thick dark brown head. The aroma is sweet malty with notes of chocolate, spices, yeast, and some berries. The flavor is sweet and very powerful and complex, the first thing that hits is yeast, pine, and spices, but then notes of chocolate, prunes, brown sugar, and over ripe fruits builds up, leading to a somewhat dry woody finish where notes of over ripe fruit and some of the spices lingers for a long while. This is a sipping beer - preferably in front of a fireplace - too bad I don’t have one.
