Bottle. Clear medium amber color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly diminishing, beige head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, caramel, fruity, moderate to heavy hoppy, grapefruit, sugar, dark fruits / berry ala plum, alcohol. Flavor is moderate sweet and moderate to light heavy bitter with a average to long duration. Body is medium to full, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. I find it to young and simple now - I think it needs some years in the cellar to mature. (181107)

Bottled. Deep ambery ruby colour with small beige head. Aroma is dark dry fruits, caramel and really much both fruity and flowery hops. Some mild alcohol is also showing, but not in a disturbing way. Flavour is spices, fruits and quite a lot of hops. Sticky palate. Still wellbalanced, and hides the alcohol really well.

75cl bottle: Pitch black wíth a fine creamy lasting brown head that drags some fantastic lacings. Aroma is of hops mainly but you can also scent some roasted malts. The body is filling, smooth & creamy. Alcohol warmth. I actually think the hops is a bit too domnating. As the beer warms up you sense the spices & the beer gets better. 12-14 degrees. Long hoppy finish....

Courtesy of Degarth, thanks. Pours clear copper with tan head. The aroma is grainy, alcohol, pale fruity esters and a bit uninspired. It isn’t rich and inviting as a lot of barleywines tend to be. The flavor is herbal, hoppy, alcohol and some mild sweet malts. The hops are pine and grass. There’s pale malts followed by a decent dose of an alcohol tingle near the finish. I will re-rate this beer with several years of age.

Bottle: Pours a lighter copper with a bit of haze. Nice sized creamy beige head. Fresh hops of citrus and pine dominate the aroma with a moderate malty sweetness. Flavor is hoppy with the malt balance taking out most of the bite. Sweet, caramel, and citrus come to mind. Finished soft, without a hop bite. Palate is full and creamy.

Black with a larger dark head. Aroma of roasted malts, coffee, liquor, and earth/dirt notes. Body is a little thin, which detracts from the overall enjoyment of this. Earthy, roasted malts in the forefront of the beer with coffee and herbal notes, and some chcolate rounding it out. A little too earthy for my tastes, but an excellent stout anyway. I’m interested in trying this again.

Pours deep mahogany into a snifter. Mocha head with good retention leaves slight sheet lacing. Coffee and caramel aromas. Slightly sour with chocolate upfront and a lasting hop finish.
