Bottle. Black pour. Smooth aroma of maple, coffee and roasted malt. Nice taste of gritty coffee, roast, cream and a sweet caramelish stuff that must be the mapple. This is nice.

Clear amber brown colour, two finger frothy beige head, good retention and lacing. Aroma malty, roasty, caramel, dried dark fruit, smoky. Taste medium sweet and bitter, malty, toffee, subtle retronasal smokiness, with average duration. Bittersweet aftertaste, spicy notes, medium body, watery to oily texture, soft carbonation. No honey but smoke, how about that (!), nice atypical Doppelbock.

On tap at Drie Dorstige Herten. Murky brown colour, beige head. Aroma is hoppy, toast, roasted malts, nuts, light fruity. Flavour is medium sweet, malty, toast, nuts, herbal, quite bitter, caramel sweetness, herbal hoppy bitter finish, hint of laurel. Medium bodied. Good.

33cl bottle. Pours a dark amber, with a coarse beige head that disappears quite quickly. Smells of dried fruits, prunes, raisins, caramel, red wine. Sweet and a bit thick, with notes of dried fruit and caramel throughout. A faint bitterness in the aftertaste, along with a metallic feeling. A decent brew, but not a Russian imperial stout by any stretch of imagination - more like a Belgian strong dark ale or a dubbel.

Tap at Arendnest, 21st January 16. good beers this trip, and this is another goody. Aroma is coffee, slight sweetness. Taste is coffee and some maple syrup comes through, not overly sweet, good and balanced.

From bottle at Winterbierfestival Gouda 2016. Clear, dark reddish amber. Sweetish-malty, roasty aroma of coffee, dark chocolate and brown sugar. Sweetish-malty, roasty taste of dark chocolate, coffee and vanilla, followed by a medium long, roasty-bitter finish. Medium body, slightly creamy mouthfeel, flat. Nice!

Pint Winterbierfestival, Gouda 2016. Gedeeld met de ratebeer clan! nagenoeg zwart met bruine kraag en goede lacing. aroma van koffie, gebrande en geroosterde mouten, weeïge zoete siroop, smaken zijn van koffie.... koffie en nog eens koffie... geroosterde mout, gebrande mouten zoethout, drop, zachte van textuur, lage co2, matige body, beetje ingetogen.
