Description
We are a little brewery situated in the original Hopcat location in GR. We have been brewing since 2008. We are the only Hopcat in the family with a brewery. Style labels are next to useless around here. We embrace the strange, push boundaries and value balance and subtle complexity over extremes.
Admin Note: As of August 5th, 2019 HopCat Grand Rapids is no longer a brewpub. Brewing equipment has been sold off so they can focus on supporting other local breweries.

Sampled from the tap at the 15th annual MBGSF. Pours a near clear amber with a light brown/tan head that lasts throughout the beer. Aroma has grassy hops with a bit of underlying resinous pine and a light wheat note. Flavor has more of an earthy pine note with a good amount of grass the mellows to let the wheat come out in the finish.

Sampled from the tap at the 15th annual MBGSF. Pours a hazy gold with a white head that dissipates quickly and completely. Aroma has a nice kind of earthy tart kiwi note with a bit of acid and a hint of backing wheat. Flavor is extremely sour up front puckering our mouth slightly, but it mellows to allow kiwi to come out and an earthy wheat note underlying.

Sampled from the tap at the 15th annual MBGSF. Pours a clear orange gold with a white head that dissipates tot the edges. Aroma has a good amount of spice with backing grain and a hint of underlying lime. Flavor burns the back of your throat a bit with a bit of grain and a hint of lime. Not really for me.
