Description
We are a little brewery situated in the original Hopcat location in GR. We have been brewing since 2008. We are the only Hopcat in the family with a brewery. Style labels are next to useless around here. We embrace the strange, push boundaries and value balance and subtle complexity over extremes.

Admin Note: As of August 5th, 2019 HopCat Grand Rapids is no longer a brewpub. Brewing equipment has been sold off so they can focus on supporting other local breweries.

Draft. Orange, banana, clove, and toasted wheat malt aroma. Murky golden yellow with small head. Sweet earthy clove and orange/lemon/banana malt flavor. Nice solid Hefeweizen but malt is a bit light.

On tap at MBGSF 2014. Pours a hazy straw color and has an herbal aroma. Flavors are herbal, slightly tart, lavender, and green peppercorn. It’s a rather nice one.

From March of 2011, reviewed from notes and at the brewpub.
This was poured into a pint glass.
The appearance was a nice looking hazy amber to orange color with a one finger white foamy head that dissipated within less than a minute. There was some light lacing sticking around the sides of the glass.
The smell had a decent sweet honey to it and some light piney hops.
The taste was mainly the same with a light grassiness that was probably the sage.
On the palate, this one sat about a light on the body with a pretty good sessionability about it. The carbonation was good for the style as it had a good sharpness but wasn’t anything overly done.
Overall, I say this was a pretty good APA well worthy of having again.

Rich copper and amber coloured body with a thin white head. Aroma of strong hops, grapefruit and pine - very nice! Medium-bodied; Strong hop flavours with a very piney and floral hop note and a significant malt backbone. A clean, yet bitter aftertaste with a very potent hop finish. Overall, great to try, especially since it’s only a local beer and nice for a brewpub! I sampled this pint on draught at Hop Cat in Grand Rapids, Michigan on 06-November-2010.

Draft at HopCat, Grand Rapids. Deep opaque, murky orange-brown body, thin tan head. Toasty, chocolaty nose with musty dark fruits and clove. Lots of chocolate in the body, also clove, grape, and raisins; vinous with a sweet , somewhat tart white wine finish. Reminds me of Bells Hell Hath no Fury, but fruitier and more acidic. Becomes cloying.

Aroma of tangerine, grapefruit. Pours orange with good lacing. Medium carbonation, bitter aftertaste. Thick consistency. Ratings were getting a little sparse at this point of the night. Tap at Hopcat.
