The Effet Papillon brasserie was founded by Jocelyn and Mathilde in 2016. Jocelyn manages the beer production. Every year, since the creation of the brewery in 2016, she manages to reinvent herself. Mathilde, for her part, manages the commercial part wonderfully and is the brewery's ambassador every day!

Tap at La tireuse. Hazy amber to golden, low head. All the warm spices, big hit of fresh clove, which surprisingly is not cloying at all. Allspice, long peoper, dry medium full mouthfeel, surprising, probably the best spice-forward beer I’ve had.

Draught @ Brasserie du Pays Flamand, Merville. Pours a deep misty reddish amber. Huge spicy nose. Flavour profile is basically ALL the spices. Big clove hit, lots of ginger and dare I say a hint of pumpkin as well.. some Christmas pot pourri.. went well with chocolate coated biscoff biscuits.

Cette NEIPA de la brasserie papillon, bien que globalement appréciable mériterait tout de même quelques réglages. Le visuel est sur un blond paille voilé avec une grosse effervescence et une mousse blanche de 1 cm d'épaisseur. Le nez est frais sur les herbes, le citron, l'ananas, le blé, le pamplemousse et la mandarine. L'ensemble fonctionne plutôt bien. En bouche, si l’effervescence trop poussée perturbe, l'amertume est bien saillante. Le houblonnage à cru n'est pas non plus complètement bien maîtrisé, ce qui fait que les arômes herbacés, poussés, piquent un peu le palais. L'équilibre est quant à lui pas mal du tout, avec un sucre pas trop poussé et un alcool à 6 % qui fait le job. La corpulence et la longueur sont également appréciables. Désaltérant.

Keg at Crafty Brewpub, Poitiers. Cloudy straw colour, small head. Aroma of peach and nectarine. Mid sweet with medium body and clean mouthfeel. Fruity, somewhat porridgy malt. Nectarine and tangerine. Low bitterness.

A: clear golden, no head.
A: pure brett, horseblanket, ureum, hay, overripe peach & plum.
T: sour plum & peach, funky brett, leather, sour cream.
F: tart stone fruit, funky cheese & leather.
P: light to medium body, slick texture, soft carbonation.
Just a very pure, straightforward brett beer.

Tap at BXL, always happy to see disregarded/obscure/rare styles pop up, but my excitement was quickly gone unfortunately. The smoke is very subdued, the finish was quite heavy on green apples, and the beer just had an all around weird acidity, didnt hate it, but I was very far from liking it too. Oh well.

330ml bottle from Bieres et Chopes. Pours a dark brown with a small beige head. Aromas & tastes of blackcurrant, caramel, coffee, chocolate, , liquorice, cereal & malt. Moderate to medium body. Light bitter finish. Enjoyable

Aus der Flasche (bbe 06.05.2026) im 2024-12 getrunken. Diese trübe, goldene Ale erinnert an ein Belgische Wit nur das dies hier deutliche Hopfennoten und -bitterkeit und ein robusten Körper hat. Ein unkompliziertes Sommer Ale!
