Description
Bellwoods Brewery began as a small brewpub in the west end of Toronto in 2012, and underwent a couple modest growth spurts over the years to encompass two retail shops (selling fresh cans and bottles), and a production brewery in North York (mostly to house The Foeder Pyramid). These days, we produce about 18,000hL a year, which is a mere blip in the grand scheme of Ontario beer, but keeps us pretty busy. The styles we’re interested in brewing range greatly, and we always remain open to new ways of making beer. For the most part, our current efforts are devoted to aromatic hoppy stuff, crisp lagers, barrel aged wild blends, fruit-forward zingers, and the occasional barrel aged stout. There’s always a new, creative project waiting in the wings. We’re still a relatively small, collaborative team, forever dedicated to the pursuit of perfect beer–thanks so much for partaking in the fruits of our labour.

Can from the brewery. Hazy yellow, with a large white head. Tropical fruit, stone fruit, citrus zest, with a lactic tangy. Not overly sour, just enough. Decent sour ipa, nice tropical, juicy notes, but at the end of the day, nothing special really.

Bottle from the brewery. Hazy yellow pour, with a large white head. Pungent, lactic nose, full of stone fruit, and sour apricots, and citrus zest. Funky, bright, crisp, and lively. Medium bitterness, and a medium to high tartness. Full of funky, fruity goodness.

Bottle from the brewery. Hazy orange pour, with a large white head. Upfront big oaky, vanilla notes with tart fruit, light vinegar, light stone fruit. Lacks sharp tartness and acidity of the younger blends this is more barrel forward and balanced. Barnyard notes of subtle and soft, apricot, and Plum mingle with the vanilla and lightly buttery oak notes.. I wouldnt age this much longer and drink it now.

Can from the brewery. They aren't kidding this is thick. Looks and smells of mango/pineapple puree. The chili comes through in the finish as it warms your throat. This isnt bad at all, in fact it's utterly delicious. But is this beer?

Bottle from the brewery. Black pour, with shades of dark mahogany, and a small beige head. Dark fruit, dark, woody, oaky bread, plums and figs, and dark roasted coffee. Soft carb, very full mouth feel. Sour finish, funky and tart, with a blast of coffee mixed in with your funky, sour fruity bready. Pretty weird stuff.
