Description
Bellwoods Brewery began as a small brewpub in the west end of Toronto in 2012, and underwent a couple modest growth spurts over the years to encompass two retail shops (selling fresh cans and bottles), and a production brewery in North York (mostly to house The Foeder Pyramid). These days, we produce about 18,000hL a year, which is a mere blip in the grand scheme of Ontario beer, but keeps us pretty busy. The styles we’re interested in brewing range greatly, and we always remain open to new ways of making beer. For the most part, our current efforts are devoted to aromatic hoppy stuff, crisp lagers, barrel aged wild blends, fruit-forward zingers, and the occasional barrel aged stout. There’s always a new, creative project waiting in the wings. We’re still a relatively small, collaborative team, forever dedicated to the pursuit of perfect beer–thanks so much for partaking in the fruits of our labour.

500mL bottle, pours a cloudy orange with a small white head. Aroma is lightly piney and lightly fruity, and some floral notes that are quite prominent towards the end. Flavour is super floral, almost jasmine-y, with tons of floral hops that dominate. Finishes floral and nearly spicy. It's pretty simple, but I'm really digging the floral quality here. Very good.

Bottle - Sweet fruity and almost chalky notes. Hazy gold with a rich white head. Nice fruity sweetness, some nice candy notes and that almost chalky note I had on the nose. Interesting and I like it.

Well I guess I’m maintaining my fanboy status with another Bellwoods first. I just couldn’t wait to try this one. (Apparently I’m not the only one. They BW bottleshop has been open for two hours and they’ve already sold 700 bottles, only 300 left.) This beer pours like my daughters created it. Cloudy Pink with a ring and floaters of white head. (All it’s missing is the sparkly princess unicorn.) Nose is mouth-watering sour apples and no cherries, from my admittedly spotty sense of smell. The taste is ... awesome. Gentle vingerette sour of apples, barely there hay malts, cream, the thought of vanilla and a background of cherries. Nicely dry, not that I expected a Mega Brewery fruit mess. Very, very drinkable. Time to fake a poop-splosion at the office and head to BW. It’ll be gone before the end of the work day, and it’s worth trying.
