Description
Bellwoods Brewery began as a small brewpub in the west end of Toronto in 2012, and underwent a couple modest growth spurts over the years to encompass two retail shops (selling fresh cans and bottles), and a production brewery in North York (mostly to house The Foeder Pyramid). These days, we produce about 18,000hL a year, which is a mere blip in the grand scheme of Ontario beer, but keeps us pretty busy. The styles we’re interested in brewing range greatly, and we always remain open to new ways of making beer. For the most part, our current efforts are devoted to aromatic hoppy stuff, crisp lagers, barrel aged wild blends, fruit-forward zingers, and the occasional barrel aged stout. There’s always a new, creative project waiting in the wings. We’re still a relatively small, collaborative team, forever dedicated to the pursuit of perfect beer–thanks so much for partaking in the fruits of our labour.

Bottle - Nice sweet citrus, touch of mango and mandarin with a touch of wet grass.Nice citrus with a touch of peel and pith. Creamy and slight yeasty notes. Interesting, but I honestly think I like 5 better.

The beer is black with a small tan head. Brown at the edges. The aroma has a big brown sugar note with a little bit of raisiny sweetness. Sugar cookie, molasses, mild roast. Pretty big vinous, cognac barrel note. Fairly sweet. Lots of barrel flavor. A little bit of acidity.

So rating the final version of Jutsu. Enjoyed the process getting here, and I’m sure everyone had their favourite. This one poured a hazy gold without much head. Nose of hemp, cerial malts, citrus juciness. The taste doesn’t deliver the citrus wallop i wes hoping for. Citurs yes, but bigger "grassy" hops dominates with a lingering bitterness supporting a cereal back. Sigh. I loved J 2 and this isn’t it. But it is a good brew.

Shared by - i think - either Vincent or Dennis, at BBF 15. Note - not sure of the vintage, but listing it here since I think chances are bigger its a recent bottle than a vintage . Pours dark amber - small white head. Smell is sweet, thick grains. Booze. Taste is a bit bitter, thick, grainy, less sweet than average. This wasnt sour at all, to me. Yet it did have a red-drawing on the bottle so can’t be B1. Was this an of-bottle in a very weird way ?

Tasting at Matt’s
Hazy golden color with small head. Very dry mouthfeel; it has resiny hops, but also a bit of vegetables.
It’s supposed to be fresh, it’s a good beer, but it’s not amazing.

500mL bottle, pours a cloudy orange with a small white head. Aroma is lightly piney and lightly fruity, and some floral notes that are quite prominent towards the end. Flavour is super floral, almost jasmine-y, with tons of floral hops that dominate. Finishes floral and nearly spicy. It's pretty simple, but I'm really digging the floral quality here. Very good.
