Description
Bellwoods Brewery began as a small brewpub in the west end of Toronto in 2012, and underwent a couple modest growth spurts over the years to encompass two retail shops (selling fresh cans and bottles), and a production brewery in North York (mostly to house The Foeder Pyramid). These days, we produce about 18,000hL a year, which is a mere blip in the grand scheme of Ontario beer, but keeps us pretty busy. The styles we’re interested in brewing range greatly, and we always remain open to new ways of making beer. For the most part, our current efforts are devoted to aromatic hoppy stuff, crisp lagers, barrel aged wild blends, fruit-forward zingers, and the occasional barrel aged stout. There’s always a new, creative project waiting in the wings. We’re still a relatively small, collaborative team, forever dedicated to the pursuit of perfect beer–thanks so much for partaking in the fruits of our labour.

I think the first one is a little better, works better. Goji berry brings a little bitterness and interesting spice. Pours golden amber. Finishes well and generally works well as a fruit beer. Soft carbonation. Sweet and bitter finish. Bottle thanks to Ham.

Had April 2012 but the rating got lumped together with other one. This pale ale is anything but common. It has a bit of a straw-like barnyard aroma. It’s got an astringent bitter to it that has almost a Gin-like quality. It’s similar almost to their saison, but doesn’t come on as strong. It’s an interesting pale ale, but I wouldn’t call it common. Has almost a soda water-like carbonation level. On tap at Bellwood’s Brewery.
