Feb, 2013 bottle from tom10101 - 6.5%. Aroma is very nice with light pear, moderate citrus, medium light oak. Some nice Brett notes add a hint of horse blanket and some light cherry and pineapple. Hints of acidity in the aroma. Pours a slightly cloudy pale straw yellow with a big, pillowy white head. Head steadily recedes leaving light lacing and faint legs. Faint graininess at first taste, but this is quickly washed away by a light lactic acid note. Moderate citrus note with some lighter pear and faint red apple cider. Medium oak character with some light tannins. Hints of ripe melons and faint cherry notes. Medium light spicy phenolic note. Low hop bitterness and only faint floral hop character. A touch of a barnyard note. Some lingering notes of faint oak and ripe melon along with a touch of phenolics. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with very high carbonation. Low acidic astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall a very nice beer, but I have to knock it for being to carbonated; it explodes into bubbles in your mouth making it difficult to truly appreciate. It is otherwise fantastic with a great light acidity and wonderful fruit notes.

(Draught at the brewpub, Sep 10 2013) Pours a cloudy pale orange with a large white head of bubbles, some lace. Huge hop aroma, predominately tropical fruit - I’d say guava dominated but there were also notes that made me think passion fruit, mango, citrus. Also a little dank/pine foliage in there, and some malt sweetness behind for support. Flavour again richly tropical fruit, same notes but I’d say a bit more mango/orange, a little Simcoe dank, some pine, malt sweetness doesn’t intrude with flavour and lets the hops do their thing. Moderate bitterness in the middle of the palate, fairly bitter on the finish with no detectable alcohol but still restrained from a DIPA perspective. Body full, carb medium. I’m particularly partial to tropical fruit-forward hoppy IPAs and the aroma/flavour concentration here is really excellent, nice mix of hops. Right up my alley, great job from Bellwoods, the Indie version was good but no question in my books which I prefer.

(Draught at brewpub, Sep 10 2013). Pours a cloudy light gold with a big head of white bubbles, lots of lace, looks grand in the Bellwoods-branded wine glasses. Pretty sure I read this blend makes use of Sprit Tree cider barrels, and my nose and palate says the same. Aroma is bright, apple and tart fruit, slight lemon, bunch of barnyardish Brett yeast. Flavour funky and ciderish with apples, lemon, wood, slight grassy hops, pale cereal malts, yeast brings a light pepper and dusty funk, finishes slightly sour-tart with a real mineral crispness to it, bit of lingering peppery yeast and grain. Mouthfeel is light to medium with very active, effervescent, creamy carb that fills the mouth and works well with the crispness. This is really complex stuff and I love the combination of barrel and Brett, on top of a typically solid saison base from Bellwoods. Eager to try more versions.

Bottle shared by Marcus. Pours orange copper with a slight beige head. Aroma is a strong cross of earth and cat pee. And maybe sweat sox. Full bodied. Flavor is earthy, floral, lightly citrus. Mild hop burn. Strong flavors. Very. Caramel is almost lost, but does its job. Finishes towards dry. And bitter. Tho not harsh. Amazing hop level.
