Description
Bellwoods Brewery began as a small brewpub in the west end of Toronto in 2012, and underwent a couple modest growth spurts over the years to encompass two retail shops (selling fresh cans and bottles), and a production brewery in North York (mostly to house The Foeder Pyramid). These days, we produce about 18,000hL a year, which is a mere blip in the grand scheme of Ontario beer, but keeps us pretty busy. The styles we’re interested in brewing range greatly, and we always remain open to new ways of making beer. For the most part, our current efforts are devoted to aromatic hoppy stuff, crisp lagers, barrel aged wild blends, fruit-forward zingers, and the occasional barrel aged stout. There’s always a new, creative project waiting in the wings. We’re still a relatively small, collaborative team, forever dedicated to the pursuit of perfect beer–thanks so much for partaking in the fruits of our labour.

A hazed golden ale with a thin lacing white head. In aroma, sweet fruity malt with loads of tropical fruits, light Epsom salts, light strawberries, light acidic notes, pleasant. In mouth, a nice tart mix of ground cherry, tropical fruit, guava paste, light mineral notes, Epsom salts, very nice and refreshing. On tap at Dominion City.

Not loving this as much as like my peers. Cloudy. Losts of hops here over light, almost thin, sweet malt. Hops is resin, imposing light citrus, with a lingering bitterness. Can lcbo

Can from 8DP. Pours a hazy, glowing straw gold with a finger of white foam that lingers, then dissipates. Strong aromas of mango, citrus, concord and green grape on the nose. Well rounded mouthfeel. Wild grape, lychee and lingering pithy citrus on the palate with a note of dank that lingers.

[As a hazy IPA] On tap at Kingston Brewing. Pours thick hazy yellow with small white head. Aroma strongly resembles bug spray; presumably citrus. Almost pulpy in the mouth. Flavour is essentially orange juice with some hoppy bitterness. I don't understand how two excellent breweries can collaborate to produce such a fucking terrible beer. And this should be entered as a NEIPA.

Can from 8 Degrees Plato. Pours a glowing, hazy straw neon yellow with a finger of foam that lingers. Pineapple skin, white grapefruit pith, mineral and a touch of passionfruit on the nose. Similar on the palate with a touch of yeast and more mineral along with pithy citrus and tropical fruit skin that lingers. Drying finish. Light and easy drinking.
