Re-rate 11/13: Bottle sample at a tasting at Tempo. Thanks Ariel. Brown, dark fruits, malt, caramel, sweet. Quite nice. 7/3/7/3/14=3.4
(3/17/08) Bottle at Café Scharrebier in Amsterdam. Best before 1/19/2020. Dark brown with a quickly-diminishing small beige head. Aroma of malt, a lot of dark fruits, some yeast and a bit of alcohol. Sweet flavor with malt, caramel, dark fruits and hints of roastiness and alcohol. Medium body and strong carbonation. Great stuff. 7/4/8/4/16=3.9

Pours with a large, creamy, off-white head with a murky, dark brown body. Dark fruits (raisins and candied figs), belgian sugar, light floral hops, and light yeast on tap in the aroma (albeit the aroma is a bit weak). Some alcohol upon letting the beer come to temperature. Sheets of lacing down the glass, the head has great retention throught the entire length of the beer. Taste is nutty, sweet, and raisiny with the alcohol upfront. Creamy mouthfeel and lively carbonation.

The bottle looks really good, the beer in the glass is incredible! Very fine foam. Tastes strong, but not alcoholic. Really, really good!

I am a little bit disapponted by this one. Pours with a large, ultra creamy, beige head covering a murky brown body. Thick lacing and good retention; this is what a beer should look like. Aroma is floral with rich fruits, currants and sweetness, but the aroma isn’t very strong. Alcohol is noticable in the taste, aftertaste is salty and yeasty.

Bottle from Wine Warehouse in Charlottesville. Pours cloudy orange-ish amber. Aroma of brown sugar and raisins. Taste is metallic and medicinal. Don’t like it. I got it! If you pretend its cola its not so bad.
Rerate: Didn’t take tasting notes, but I had a small sample which was much, much better. Scores updated to reflect that.

33 cL bottle and magnum bottle at Kerstbierfestival 2007. Pours deep brown, slight murky with a light brown head. Aroma is distinct chocolate malty, quite fresh fruity towards citrus fruits and mild yeast. Flavour holds the same distinct fresh citrus fruity hops note (does become a bit cloying towards the end) to a smooth delicate yeasty and malty chocolate malt base. Quite complex yet clearly lighter and more accessible compared to the 10. Ends with a nice lingering fruity and malt driven complex finish.

33ml bottle. Aroma of dried fruits, with malts. Slightly sour flavor with some fruit sugars. Alcohol is masked almost completely, which is a very nice surprise.

33cl bottle in Rochefort glass. Pours very thick dark brown. 2 finger tan head, lots of lacing. Smells great - malts, raisins, figs, plum. Excellent! Alcohol is present but not overwhelming. Possibly the best beer I have ever tasted.
