33cl bottle in Rochefort glass. Pours reddish-brown with off white head. Another excellent beer from this brewery. Similar to the 8 but not quite as flavorful. Dubbels aren’t my favorite but this one is great.

33cl bottle in Rochefort glass. Pours dark brown with a slight tan head. Fruity aroma. Nice lacing. Complex flavor of malts raisins, figs, caramel...great brew. Seems to get better as it warms. My favorite beer so far, can’t wait to try the 10.

33 cL bottle. Pours dark brown with a diminished off-white head. Aroma is discretely spiced, mild caramel malt and subdued yeast note. Solid carbonation. Flavour is smooth, subdued fruity, slight yeasty. Very very very complex yet elegant (acetyl, raisins, malt, slight roasted, plum, winous, caramel, smooth chocolate and nicely bitter), not overly done, just PERFECTLY balanced! Emphasise has to be put on PERFECT aroma, flavour and palate. Nice lingering finish. Sharp edge in the far finish.
It just falls slightly short compared to the Westvleteren 12, But: amazing, fantastic smooth and very controlled brew.

Dark brown colour. Aroma is somewhat vinous with some elements of slightly sweet dark fruit. Flavour has massive amounts of rich fruit. The texture is quite thick and unctuous making it and easy drink. Alcohol doesn’t come through so much because of the full flavour.

Pours a muddy brown colour with thin white head. Aroma is sweet, candied fruits and bubblegum. Fairly lively carbonation on the tongue leads to the beer foaming up in the mouth releasing flavours that are of dark, sweet fruits and floral notes. The aftertaste is fairly clean but the alcohol does start to dominate a little too much in the end.

Pretty smelling beer, molasses malts meet flowery hops. Some grapes or raisins too. Poors with a very small beige head that disappears completely. Color is a muddy brown with a red tinge, thick with small particles. Flavor is nice, but nothing jumps out too much at me. Texture starts creamy and then fininshes dry and metallicy in the back of the mouth. Carbonation is lively, but the beer isn’t quite as alive. This brew is good, but I have had better Abbey Dubbels.

(Bottle, Akkurat, Stockholm, 7 Dec 2007) Dark reddish brown colour with frothy, beige head. Malty, herbal nose with chocolate, toffee and dried herbs (dill?). Malty, herbal taste with notes of chocolate, moccha, dill, thyme and a hint of swedish julmust. Fairly dry, modest but spicy bitterness. Brilliant beer with a lovely herbal touch!

2 year old bottle: Dark chestnut brown pour with a smaller sandy head. Nose is fruity and inticing, some caramel and brown sugar as well. The flavor is what gets this going for me. Nice and complex with plums, dark fruits, vinous qualities, caramel, toffee, and a little alcohol warming. Just a hint of smokiness. Great creamy palate as well. Enjoyable.

(33cl bottle) Hazy, dark and reddish amber coloured hue with floating sediments and a big but not very persistent frothy off-white head. Sweet and yeasty aroma with roasted malt, vinous fruity (dark berries, plums), chocolate and spicy notes. Moderately sweet flavour, not more than medium bodied with a minimal fizzy mouthfeel. Toast-malty, yeasty taste with a more or less subtle fruit-character; sweet finish with little balancing yeasty and hoppy bitternes and a well-hidden alcohol. Good but not great.
