bottle - Pours murky brown with a fizzy, two finger head. It has a substantial and very pleasant yeast and dark fruit aroma. The taste is quite sweet with plenty of dark fruit notes. It’s almost too sweet. Medium bodied and lively on the palate, this is a very good brew.

Caramel with orange highlites and a medium light tan head. Bready, spicy, yeast, wine-like grapes, and sweet malt. Flavor is spices, dark fruits, malty sweetness, and alcohol. Finishes with noticeable alcohol. Medium, rather carbonated body. Great brew, I prefer the 10 but this is in no way a sub-par beer. Keep up the good work, Rochefort.

Cloudy dark copper body with large, foamy and long-lasting off-white head. Moderate aroma is malty and fruity — plum, pear, raisin and a note of citrusy lemon — along with doughy yeast. Flavor is sweet to start, but turns tart like sour apple and slightly bitter. There is a light mustiness in the finish along with a raw dough flavor. Texture is slightly watery alongside a medium body. Fizzy carbonation. Nice palate. The alcohol shows up at the end.

11.2 oz Bottle. Pour is cloudy orange amber is a big thick off white tan head. Aroma is sweet malt, lots of fruit, I even got some strawberry. Taste is really smooth, starts with the big malt presence, some bright sweetness in the middle and a nice bitter hop finish. Towards the very end of the finish, I pick up on a touch of alcohol. This is a beautiful beer with tons going on throughout.

Pours brown with fairly thick Café au lait kind of head that slowly left beautiful laces and circles revealing a beer still alive. Very vinous aroma and among many lovely scents - figs, dates, tobacco, cake, overripe plums, caramel and chocolate were most dominant. But what stroke me most was that lovely spice I’ve never been able to fully pinpoint. I could smell this for hours! The flavor is rich and though 11,3% it’s never near boozy. Extremely well balanced with a high complexity. Sweet but no overly so. The esters gives it plenty of dark overripe fruit like plums, dates and figs and the roasted malt together with the brown sugar left me with thoughts of nuts, caramel and chocolate cake. I’m happy to report: Though it’s been more than 10.000 beers since I last did this one properly. It’s still one of the all time greats. It’s a masterpiece. It warmed up my cheeks and put a big smile on my face. What a great beer. Boy I have missed it without being aware of it!!!

Redish-brown pour. Heavy fruit and malt aroma. Flavor has noticable alcohol presence, and a thick malt flavor. Aside from that it is very drinkable.

Pours a deep reddish brown with a large tan head. Aroma is fruity, yeast, spice, lightly tart cherries, molasses, and sweet malt. Very inviting. Medium, well carbonated, body. Flavor is spicey, dark fruits, yeast, tart, and semi-sweet. Finishes with a little alcohol and a nice bite. Complex and well belended. Fantastic.
