This beer has been described again and again and again. What is the point of doing it again. So instead I am going to focus on the intensity of the goodness. It is really, really good. I mean, better than sex with an ugly person, maybe even better than sex with a pretty person. Yes, this beer is divine, it is worthy of a million odes. Is there a better beer out there? Yes, there is, but I have not tried it yet. People should write poetry about this and the Trappiste monk’s priests should deliver homilies about the virtues of this beer.

Small offwhite head over dark brown hazy body. Light, wooden, spicy aroma, somewhat watery. Light, spicy, wooden taste. Dry, bitterish aftertaste. Good, low-key version of its bigger brothers. (0.33l bottle.)

Poured a maple brown with a thick and creamy off white head. Smells of fruit, plum and grape mostly. Initial flavor is muddled because of the heavy alcohol. Spicy start, with a malty kick, but fruity finish with plums again. The alcohol is upfront with a smoother finish. Pretty nice.

Poured a maple brown with a very thick, foamy white head. Dirty looking sediment at the bottom. Sweet, malty, sugary aroma. No hop smell. Initial flavor is syrupy sweet, apple, plum and brown sugar. Finish is pretty clean with no hint of the heavy alcohol. Much more drinkable than the #6.

(Bottle) Colour is dark brown with ruby notes and a firm, frothy, beige head. Huge, complex, herbal nose with chocolate (and mint?), toffee, vanilla, spices, sugar-candy and a distinct honey sweetness. Taste is very complex: herbal with spices, vanilla, mint, dark fruit, fudge, chocolate, mocha, caramel, honey and .. well, there’s loads of stuff here, even a hint of julmust (Swedish Christmas soft drink). Definitely sweet, but very well balanced, medium to full body, slightly wineous. Lasting and warming finish. Alcohol shows itself in the warming finish, but otherwise remarkably well hidden. Amazing balance and absolutely lovely stuff.

Poured a brown with orange hues with a thick white head from the undersized bottle. The aroma is unique, fruity, but not like other beers. Smells like Granny Smith Apples and nuts. Flavor is very nutty, almost like peanut butter. Very smooth taste, no heat until the very end. Finish is spicy as well, like black pepper. Very interesting beer.
