Bottled. (BB 21/9 2010) Looks really, really good, dark brown, with some carbonation and floaties. The head is beige, huge, creamy and lasting, and theres some floaties on top of the head too! Sediments in the bottle. Nice lacings. Lots of sugar and dried fruits in the aroma. Really pleasant. Some notes of cellar and yeast too. The flavor has sweetness first, then dried fruits, cellar-notes, berries, some meat-stock notes, alcohol, bitterness, candi-sugar. Sweet, full body, with a long finish of sugar, some bitterness and alcohol. The alcohol really suits the beer. A truly wonderful classic. Pity it’s so expensive in Norway, 70 NOK!. (060527)

Medium beige coarse head over dark brown body that’s seemingly opaque black, but through which a little light brown can be spotted at the edges. Intense, sweet licorice and anise aroma with notes of chocolate and bready yeast and a touch of vanilla. Taste is deep, intense spiciness, mostly anise and licorice, but also pepper, cinnamon, chocolate, and some burntness, and god alone knows what else. Toffee, sweetness. The aftertaste is bitter chocolate anise, with lingering anise. What can I say? This is an undying classic. (0.33l bottle.)

Dark and filling with white head. Nuts caramel liquirice. A bit warm from the alcohol which is pleasant. Chocolate, tobacco & dark dried fruits. A bit of sweetness and a great long finish! Great! Almost as good as the 10!

hazy brown with white head. A bit of fruits and caramel. A lighter version than the 8 or 10. This doesnt make it boring though. Plum, raisin & caramel. It still has the long lasting taste and finish. Great! Rerating June - 09. Vintage 2005 bottle. Wauw - aroma is off the chain - (again). Smooth, dried fruits, delicious liquorice. 4 Again - But closer to 4,1 than expected. Re-rate. 31 Dec - 2012. Vinous, Rich and warming. Still has the yeast complexity that the 8 & 10 has. Great stuff..:-) 4 again.

Bottled. Amber colored beer with a large beige head. Nice aromas with malt, candi-sweetness and citrus. The flavor has dried fruit, hops and some alcohol. Full, sweet body. A nice beer. Rating: 7-4-8-4-15-3.8. 060328
Bottle, BB 191113. The pour results in a massive creamy off-white to beige head with good retention. The dark, orangey brown body is unclear, and has some sediments. The first aroma to escape the glass is a cellary, slightly yeasty one, soon followed by dried fruits, some roasted malts and hints of alcohol. Prunes and rum raisin also comes to mind. It’s a bit thin on the palate for a beer of this strenght, feeling sort of hollow in the mouth. Lightly roasted, chocolatey malts, alcohol notes, raisins, hoppy bitterness and a cellary touch in the flavor. The warming finish has a good blend of bitterness and chocolatey, roasted malts. A lovely beer, both lacking something and with something too much considering its strenght. Still, won’t shy away from it in the future. 090904

Bottled Brugs de’ Beertje 03-11-05. Poured a very dark brown with a thickish white head, some toffee sugary malt and fruity aroma’s. Nice and malty, with just the right level of sweetness in the taste department, full bodoied and very moreish. Very good beer.

Aroma is wonderful. Dark fruit, maybe some banana/clove scents and with nutiness. Color is very dark, head is big at first, but diminishes quickly... Flavor is full and parallels aroma nicely. Banana, cloves, nuts, prune, and maybe some toffee. Excellent.

Dark brown with slightly off-white, creamy head. Sweet, delightful, strong aroma of brown sugar and plum — an aroma that hits the nose with every sip. Flavor is filled with toffee and overripe sweet plum and toffee. Nicely carbonated, medium body, moderately long finish. Like drinking dessert. Very enjoyable.
