Frothy light brown head on a deep brown body. Strong malty flavor with earthy tones. Sweet spicy flavor with notes of raisins. Very easy to drink for the alcohol level.

Dark brown with a light brown/off white head. Fruity smell but not as pronounced as the Rochefort 10. Ended with a bitter fruit taste.

Dark with light brown head. Smell was of sweet fruit with an essence of plum. Very pleasant flavor of fruit and seemed diffrent in the fact that it wasn’t bitter as other trappist are. Update: Recently had a five year aged bottle. It was very nice I think the flavor and aroma of the fruit was more pronounced. The taste was strong but the alcohol tangy bite had changed to a moderate tingle. Still pleasant from start to finish!

Medium amber colour. Well balanced tastes and aromas of dark fruit (like plums, red raisins). Nice dry finish. Almost as good as the 10.

Bottle says 06 10 04. Sampled 04 17 07. Medium sized bubbles on quickly dispersing head. Aroma of caramel and leaves. Deep burgundy appearance. Alcohol, plum and raisin notes. Tastes wonderful. Full, thick, lively and long. I always feel happier after I’ve had one.

Bottle says 28 07 04. Poured with all yeast into a Rochefort glass a beautiful Ruby Red with active swirling yeast. Medium sized bubbly head quickly dissipates to cling to the rim. Very rich, fruity aroma of dates, raisins, bread and plums. Very nice, medium sweet with light carbonation. Really top notch. One of my favorites.

Dark brown pour dotted with sediment. Tight-bubbled head that ever-so-slowly recedes. Fruity aroma filled with banana, plum, cherry, toffee with a note of the earthiness and alcohol. The flavor is complex and sweet though there is an undercurrent of mustiness. Ripe plums dominate, but there is a note of caramel and brown sugar and a slight burn from the alcohol. The body fills the mouth without being sticky and is comfortable on the palate. Outstanding.

Bottled. Dark brown colour with beige mediumsized longlasting head. Aroma of plum, raisins, some sweet malts and yeast. Weak barnyardishness also there. Flavour is yeast, sweet caramellish malts and a nice sting of alcohol. Some mouldy/earthy hints complete the wellbalancedness of the beer.

330ml bottle. Dark brown. A little taste and flavour of alcohol , but not unpleasant . Creamy head. You know it’s a strong beer.
