Description
Temporal Artisan Ales is a brewing project that is crafting delicate oak-aged beers in a shared space at Luppolo Brewing Company in Vancouver, BC. The beers we create are fermented 100% in our oak barrels over lengthy periods of time, imparting delicate complexity. Portions of separate barrels are blended to enhance specific characteristics unique to each barrel. Every beer we release has been meticulously crafted from start to finish.

Draught @ Luppolo. Hazy, but lumenescent, straw-beige colour. Thick head that falls down to lace. The aroma is wood-forward, lightly vinous, showing bugs and lactic notes. On the palate, lactic tartness, tannic wood, hint of brett C, some funkier stuff that could be pedio. Sweet vinous and pale malt notes and if the cactus gods have left their mark anywhere it's an almost imperceptible “what is that?” sort of note. Thank goodness somebody in this town is making real, artful, skilled beer. Thank you, Tristan.

375 ml bottle. Pours a cloudy orange amber with no head but quite a bit of corbonation. Aromas of tart peach skin, dry earthy funk and muddled stoned fruit. Flavors of nectarines, tart green grapes, soft wheaty malts plus a little funk and sulphur. Nice

Hazy, blonde, thin head. This is tart, bit of jammy fruit, berries and wine. Mellow brett - mostly just lactic. Sweet notes to balance the finish. Yummy.

Hazy, light amber, thin head. Light tropical fruit nose, vinous with a touch of brett. Tart, some sweetness from that wine barrel, tart and bretty finish. Wine-heavy.

Draught at Darby's Gastown, Vancouver
Cloudy blond colour with large head. Nice aroma, fruity, sour, vinous, maybe acetic but in an elegant way; strong white wine character. Soft mouthfeel, quite dry but with good body strength; buttery sourness, maybe a barrel of Chardonnay, the fruity character is quite strong, mingles with some funk; the final is a bit short.
Very good.

Taster at Darby's Gastown. Pours a hazy dirty golden with a white head. Aroma is pleasant with funk and barrel notes. Similar taste with moderate to high acidity and some lacto notes. A bit simple and more acidic than I prefer, but easy drinkable and refreshing.

On tap at Darby's Gastown, pours a clear pale golden with a small white head. Aroma brings out light wine barrels and subtle bourbon, and a touch of acidity. Flavour brings out plenty of bourbon upfront, with a bit of vinous character, and light acidity. A bit jumbled but it works okay.

On tap at Darby's Gastown, pours a hazy blonde with a small white head. Aroma brings out some wood, moderate acidity and tart stone fruits. Flavour is along the same lines, with tart stone fruits, wood, light acidity and some wine tannins. Low-to-moderate complexity, with a crisp, acidic finish. Good stuff.
