Loch Lomond Brewery
Microbrewery
in Alexandria,
West Dunbartonshire,
Scotland 🏴
Associated Venue: Loch Lomond Brewery Tap
Established in 2011
A desire to brew beer and create a family business that would allow the whole family to get involved we started in 2011 in Alexandria.
Now having brewed a number of award winning beers including CAMRA Champion Beer of Scotland in 2017 and SIBA Supreme Cask Champion of the UK in 2016, we have recently rebranded to include a number of new beers in cask, keg, bottle and can.
Still brewing on our original 10bbl kit our passion has not faded - in fact we are probably more fanatical now about our existing beers and new recipes than ever before.

Re-ratingat the Oak Tree in Balmaha. The nose was quite mute in this occasion but loads of pine in the taste. Deserves a wee nudge up. Previous rating 10/07/15 on cask at sraf. 6+3+7+4+13=3.3. Golden with a thin head. Orange and malt only nose and taste. Decent balance.

500ml bottle from great grog. Pours clear golden amber, merest ring of white head. Strong, smoky, bonfire aromas. Islay whisky too. Iodine. Taste is more peat smoke, behind that some sweetness, faint marmalade. Slightly thin body. Challenging.

Cask at the Tam O’Shanter. Light to mid-gold with a decent white head on top. Lemon/lime aroma with some artificial sweetener. Unfocused bitter taste with fruity sweet edges. Not sure the condition is as good as it shoul be. At any rate this brew is found wanting.

Bottle at home. It pours clear amber with a small white head. The nose is sweet malty action, woody, musty, resin, grainy and caramel. The taste is bitter, sweet malty stuff, earthy, oily, resinous, quite sweet, grapefruit rind, soapy, caramel, alcohol and bread with a dry, earthy finish. Medium body and average carbonation. Too malty and sweet. I’m not a fan.

Cask-conditioned at the Seven Stars, Bristol 3/3/2015. Deep copper in colour, with a frothy, off-white, head. Sweet, husky, malts, some hedgerow fruits, toffee and a lingering bitter finish. Elements didn’t come together.

Cask-conditioned at the Seven Stars, Bristol 3/3/2015. Deep gold with a slight, white, head. Sweetish, creamy, malts, with a touch of citrus fruit and hint of grassy hop, leading to a moderately bitter finish. Fine.

Cask-conditioned at the Seven Stars, Bristol 5/3/2015. Almost black in colour, with a thin, beige, head. A tasty, dense, stout, with plain chocolate, liquorice and toasted malts, ending up with a dryish finish. Very good.
