In this version. Willet is bolder in the aroma over the 4 year. The flavor shows plenty of maple. The Willet in the finish does show the black pepper and spice. Balanced for certain.

Bottle from our membership. Tried next to the other Willet-verse collection. Aroma is maple, roast, soft Willet. Flavor follows and is not syrupy or overly sweet. Maple helps balance the Willet. Body is perfect.

Bottle share with membership group. Opaque black with thin head, fair retention, light viscosity and light lacing. Aroma is sweet malt, Willett Rye, oak. Taste is sweet malt, Willett Rye, oak background. Smooth, creamy texture, soft carbonation, no sign of alcohol, finish as taste.

Clear, dark. Small, tan head quickly to ring.
Chocolate, of course, with caramel and vanilla. So ce coming on late but fairly strong. Is there alcohol here or is that just the intensity of the rye?
Spicy, very fruity, easygoing with good malt, lots of black pepper and light lead. Light mocha, low maple and lots of cherry vanilla lingering. My least favorite of the 6, thus far, on account of the heavy fruit and tea-like notes with lower body and no rich bourbon (the rye just seems kind of nutty here). All that said, this is still well-done.

Taste is strong initial spicy Willett, maple, roasted earthy malt. Smooth, creamy texture, soft carbonation, initial warming but vanishes as it sits. Very nice. Complexity and balance not quite as nice as 4-yr.

7/16/24 635/1200 aroma is nuts, bourbon, spice, hint of Banana. Taste follows aroma, sweet chocolate, bourbon hint of spice in the finish.

Oh yeah, that is smelling even more intense of Willett than the four. Interesting bc it's roughly the same amount of time spent in the barrel. But this has less cacao and random chocolate and more Willett spice. No booze. Elegant.
And yet there's a big burst of rich milk chocolate up front with graham cracker and flakey biscuit. Gooey fudge and vanilla with lingering pepper. Drier than the four year and equally interesting and compelling.

Bottle pour with membership group. Opaque black with decent head, fair retention, nice viscosity and trace lacing. Aroma is strong roasted, earthy malt, light peat, oak, mild bourbon. Taste is strong roasted, earthy malt, light bourbon, hint of oak. Smooth, creamy texture, soft carbonation, light alcohol warmth, finish as taste. This goes down super smooth, nice complexity and exceptionally balanced.
