Description
Established in 2014, owner Seamus McMahon has set up a lovely brewery in one of the old sheds, located behind the milking parlour. This brewery is set up on a working Dairy Farm. The team have renovated the shed to exacting specifications. The brewery is set amongst the rolling drumlins of County Monaghan. Our aim is to create distinct beers that are brewed with care and affection. We have created a range of well balanced and flavoursome ales that reflect the changing face of the beer market in Ireland.

Bottle 33 cl. Pours a clear, nutty brown with a beige head. Slightly nutty aroma with a sweet twist. Medium body, biscuity, toffeeish and nutty with a hint of smoke. Not really sweet though. And next to no bitterness. Pleasant drinking. 310822

500ml bottle bought as part of a delivery from KWM Wines, Kilkeel. Dark brown, almost black with a ring of tan head. Light chocolatey aroma, some whisky and a little touch of liquorice. Sweet taste with a sourish whiskey kickback. More chocolate and salted caramel notes. Smooth yet boozy finish. Thick body, low carbonation. Understated but intensely nice.

500 ml bottle, as Brehon Just Because DIPA, from KWM Wines & Spirits. ABV is 8.5%. Deep golden to copper colour, large white head. Aroma of malts and orange marmalade, some piney notes too. Resinous and distinctly bitter flavour, sweetish notes of caramel or crystal malts, hints of grapefruit and bitter orange marmalade. A typical American West Coast DIPA - from Ireland.

Tap at FOB, Rimini, Italy. Pours black, with a very fine, homogeneous cream foam. Aroma is chocolate/cocoa. Body is average, slightly on the thin side, with limited carbonation. Taste is on the roasty bitter side, but more like dark chocolate/cocoa. Final is pretty long, with some induced salivation.

500ml bottle @ Quarry Tasting, July 22. Thanks Jeremy for this. Hazed reddish amber appearance, off-white head. Moist malty fruitcake flavours emerging with a pleasant malt-led sweetness. As per the description it does drink very easy, drank it like a 5% beer, but surprised to see it was 11% as I finished. Pretty good, but perhaps a little thin for a barley wine.

500ml bottle: BB 7th October 2024. The Quarry Tasting on 17th July 2022, split four ways. Maroon hue to the brown body, beige head. Malty, sweet and slightly nutty. Seemed a little 'thin' body wise for an 11% brew but I liked it anyway.

Clear blond colour with thin head. Fruity aroma, also a bit stale like many a kettle sour. The passion fruit is there.

Panda at home, thanks to SHIG, 07/07/22. Black with a good sized tan covering that veers to a swirl then hangs out. Nose is mellow roast, Bertie Basset, dried fruit rinds, cocoa powder, mellow whisky kiss, light smoke. Taste comprises Medium bodied with bite, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a light kiss of booze. Solid flavoursome porter ... well rounded and balanced.
