Description
When we first made cider it was with the windfall from family and friends’ apple trees. We hired a scratter and a basket press and everyone gathered on a sunny Autumn morning with their bags of scrumped fruit.
Now we buy apples by the tonne and we ferment in stainless steel vats. But not much else has changed.
We still only use local apples and – when it’s time to press and to bottle – our friends and family still gather to lend a hand.

Cask hamdpull at Fuggles Beer Cafe Tonbridge haze green gold colour no head. Light rhubarb character but it's there and it's not too sweet either. Yes some sweetness but the natural sourness of the rhubarb comes through and works well. A little yeast. Yes ok and some ok rhubarb and apple character

500ml bottle via Pilango. Pours a misty pale yellow. Aroma has a certain stewed apple side to it. Taste is stewed apple with cinnamon, which I imagine is where the apple pie reference comes in. Generally clean, lightly acidic, fairly simple and sweet but not unlikeable.

500ml bottle. Pale yellow colour, afew initial bubbles on top but no lasting head, and aroma of apple pie, cinnamon, spice. Taste is sweet, apple strudel, cinnamon, mulled spices, with fruity apple and maybe a hint of funk. Syrupy mouthfeel, medium bodied, low carbonation, sweet finish. Quite OK, abit sweet.

500ml bottle @ Pint Shop, Birmingham. Pours very pale, light and oily on the palate, light carbonation. Good floral nose, nice floral sweet character, some green apple, some stickiness on the finish. Decent clean, floral cider.

Bottle from The Offy, Whitstable. Clear pale yellow. More fruitiness coming through this time, light acidity, interesting Russet fruit. Good. Box @ Bridge Street Ale House, Stoke. Pours clear pale yellow. Musty apple orchard nose, continuing to taste with a light pure juice body, soft acidity, not really getting the extreme notes of Ian, though that could be due to my cold. Semi-sweet apple fruit. A re-rate may be in order.

Cask handpull Fuggles Beer Cafe Tunbridge Wells, Clear pale gold colour no head. A still cider. Tannin tart apple juice. Pretty much same throughout. Pretty aggressive cider. Very dry on finish. A little challenging maybe. But a good dry cider.
