Description
When we first made cider it was with the windfall from family and friends’ apple trees. We hired a scratter and a basket press and everyone gathered on a sunny Autumn morning with their bags of scrumped fruit.
Now we buy apples by the tonne and we ferment in stainless steel vats. But not much else has changed.
We still only use local apples and – when it’s time to press and to bottle – our friends and family still gather to lend a hand.

Box @ Freed Man, Walmer. Pale yellow, it does have that pastry-sweet touch giving it an apple pie finish, and quite an easy texture too.

500 ml brown bottle, as Turners Russet Cider, ABV 8.0%. From Seven Cellars. Clear and very pale straw colour, no carbonation. Moderate aroma of eating apples and cider apples, a hint of sulphites. Bone dry flavour with distinct notes of very bitter cider apples. Thin mouthfeel for its strength. A rough cider indeed, won't buy again.
