Amber, hazy. Spicy, herbal and big citrusy hop aroma. Very bitter. Lots of rye spiciness. The malts are presentt but subdued. Not very lagerish, but it’s an interesting brew.

Pint can purchased at Zipps in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Canned on 11/14/12 according to stamp on the bottom of the can. The pour is a slight haze orange golden with a well formed one inch light tan head. The head falls slow with thick lacing. The aroma is fresh resin tropical fruit hops, along with a fruit stripe gum sweetness. The taste has the pineapple fruit up front, along with resin dankness then turns towards more bright sweetness, and a somewhat rough malt character. The finish is dry leafy grassy hops. There is also a solid amount of alcohol heat in the back that further dries the finish out. The palate is medium bodied, tiny soft carbonation bubbles, and the dry bitter hop and hot finish. This beer is solidly made, real fresh, and I imagine it is precisely what they intended to brew. However, this is not 100% my thing at the moment. I used to really enjoy this type of beer. Thanks to Tyler for the fresh can, with an assist to my Dad. I’ll keep the original score for posterity sake. (7,4,7,3,14 - 3.5)

Handbottle shared by beastiefan2k at Indra’s Strong Ale Fest. Pour is cloudy orange ruby, with a smallish off white head. Nice thick lacing left behind on the glass as the head falls. Aroma is honey sweet, with gritty grainy resinous hops. Taste is the gritty resin citrus pine hops, sweet malty honey, and some nice floral expressions to the back. Palate is medium, pretty sticky and lasting finish. Nice one, thanks Eugene. (8,4,7,3,16 - 3.8)

Growler that Ty was able to pick this up for me, thanks man. I pop open the growler and the hoppy aroma just wafts the room. It pours a thick, dark orange color into a white wine glass, can barely see through it. The large head fades quickly. Aroma is very sweet, definitely underattenuated, with thick topical fruity hops. It is sweet, thick, and hoppy. Taste follows suit with sweet bubblegum hops. Its a sweet hop brew with sweet underattenuated sugars. In this case, this worked for me.

Smelled like concentrated hops and tastes like eating a hop pellet. Some malt sweetness, which makes it surprisingly well balanced for a beer so loaded with hop bitterness. Thanks to Skyview for sharing this one that I missed from Surly.

2008 bottle courtesy of BDR. Thanks Brad! Shared with cdumler and Alraomon. Pours pure black with a medium, thick brown head. Excellent head retention and lacing. Aroma is roasted malts, caramel, bitter coffee, spicy hops and coconut. Taste is very sweet with bitter hops, caramel, soy, coconut, slight coffee and roasted malts. Full bodied and very sticky. Just a bit too sweet for my taste.

16 ounce can shared by cdumler with Alraomon and myself. Thanks! Pours a slightly hazy yellow color with a thin head. Aroma of candi sugar, caramel and spice. Taste is primarily bitter leafy hops with lots of fruity notes, particularly peach and pineapple. Full bodied.

16 ounce can split by cdumler with Alraomon and myself. Thanks! Pours a clear reddish brown color with a medium head. Average head retention and lacing. Aroma is chocolate, hops and a slight nuttiness. Taste is caramel, chocolate and mild bitter hops in the finish. Smooth mouthfeel, medium bodied.

12 ounce can courtesy of cdumler. Thanks! Pours a slightly hazy orange yellow color Small head with low head retention, but nice lacing also. Aroma is spicy and herbal hops with some toasted hops and graininess. Taste is bitter hops and an absurd level of graininess. Very reminiscent of club soda. Faint caramel in the finish. Medium bodied.
