Draft @ Contact Sports Bar in The Palace. Drank the shit out of this the last five days... it’s pretty well available everywhere in the area. Pours a lighter brown color with a finger of tan head. Nice lacing. Hard to get a good feel for the aroma with it being served ice cold. Still, a little bit sweet and lightly toasty. Taste of toasted caramel malts, nuts, toffee, and caramel. Good. Very drinkable; I can see why it’s a local favorite.

12 oz. bottle from Total Wine, Naples FL. Aroma is lots of spicy hops with light caramel. Taste is sweet malts, caramel, and spicy rye. Resin and grapefruit notes. The bitter finish lingers just slightly and I am pleased by this. The malt backbone gives the spicy rye very good balance. Alcohol is really well hidden. I finish this brew very quickly. I was surprised how fast the glass got emptied. Nice brew.

12 oz. bottle from Total Wine, Naples FL. My Boddingtons glass shows a medium brown color. Low carbonation with very little head that had no retention. I can get the nutty aroma after the brew warms up. However, I can’t smell or taste an actual pecan. Light caramel and toasted malts. Overall rather sessionable brown ale.

Tap on Bourbon Street. Thick opaque black with a steady oily beige head. Mellow roasty chocolate aroma. Classic stout, big mossy chocolate tones. Medium to full bodied, quite sessionable. Mild roasty coffee notes. Straightforward, a well done offering.

12 oz. bottle. Hazy orange pour, with a medium, beige head. The aroma is heavy resin and floral hops, with some butterscotch and wet hay. The flavor is very bitter, with little to no malt backbone. Heavy body, sticky, and very astringent. Low carbonation. Overall, this is a strong and hoppy, but fairly unpleasant beer.

Draft in pint glass. Typical opaque stout. Thinner and more watery than the typical stout. I wondered what that unusual taste was on the finish until I looked it up on Ratebeer. I didn’t guess sweet potato . . . guessed pickles!
