Lower Westcombe Farm, Evwrcreech, Shepton Mallet, BA4 6ER, England
Description
We are a brewery on Westcombe Farm in Somerset and we care about how our beers are made. Most importantly where our ingredients come from and how they’re grown. We pay particular attention to the grain we use and source it directly from farmers whose practices whether regenerative or organic, help restore soil health and rebuild ecological systems.
The beers are simple and reflect these values. Having a limited palette to work from allows our creativity to shine in a more subtle and nuanced way. Our beers are inspired by fabulous British and German traditions that are informed by owner and Brewmaster Adrian Peskin's own heritage.
Uses the former site of The Wild Beer Company Ltd.

Cask at the Wenlock arms. A clear mahogany brown coloured pour with a lasting khaki head. Aroma is semi sweet, earthy roasted barley, vanilla sweetness, agricultural notes. Robust, black liquorice.. Flavour is composed of lovely layered dark malts, roasted barley, liquorice, burnt toast, mellow sweetness, nice bitter char in the finish. Palate is semi sweet, rounded, good cask condition. Lovely cask Porter. Nice lingering bitter roast.

Keg at The George & Monkey. It pours clear amber with a sturdy beige head. The aroma is bitter - sweet, touch of toffee, brown bread, cereal, nuttiness, toasty spice, leather and some fruit loaf. The taste is firmly dry, touch of bitterness, woody, nutty, leather, resin, nip of spice, earth and cereal with a drying, woody finish. Average body and moderate carbonation. Quite unique offering, really stands out in a line up of 5% hazies. Quaffable and satisfying.

Nice rocky off white head on a clear light brown coloured body.
Parkin & nutty aroma.
Zesty citrus, caramel, winey & zesty tastes with a malt backbone.

Lovely beer but not really true to style

440ml can. Slightly hazed dark ruby with a beige head. Aroma of dark fruits, caramel, malt loaf. Taste is sweet and malty, malt loaf, caramel, dark fruits, liquorice, a little chocolate. Medium bodied.
Very nice example of the style, reminiscent of Boxcar's.
