Description
Cellarmaker Brewing Company has been in the works for quite some time. Look for our beers to start making their way around better known beer bars and beer focused restaurants in San Francisco starting in September.

We have a tasting room in the same building as the brewery and will offer tasters, pints, and growlers. Some beers may be bottled further down the line but for now it's all draft. The only way you can take our beer away is in the form of a growler - which by the way, is a great way to drink beer!

Look for a focus of plenty of hoppy beers, belgian-style saisons, dark beers, and sour beers. We are huge fans of wine and bourbon barrel aged beers as well so it's only natural for us to have a barrel program. Think bourbon barrels loaded with big chewy imperial stouts, excessively hopped IPAs, fruited sour beers, and funky saisons. This is what we love. This is what we are all about. We hope you are too!

Please follow along for the ride as we build San Francisco's next great brewery.
Cheers!

Tap at Santa Clara Whole Foods. Pours clear light gold with small off-white head that fades to a collar. Minimal lacing at the top of the glass. Grapefruit and pith aroma. Slight white cracker. Flavor is sauv blanc, and dank dominant. Highly carbonated leads to a spritzy mouthfeel.

On tap at the Oakland location. Aroma is grain forward with a nice bready, cracker note. Light herbal, grassy hop notes and hints of alcohol. Faint fruity esters. Pours a clear, golden color with a medium large, thick, fluffy white head that recedes steadily to a small film that lingers. Light lacing and faint legs. Flavor is slightly sweet with medium notes of bready, cracker malt. Medium low bitterness and light alcohol notes. Moderate hop notes that are fairly fruity with a nice citrus notes. Lighter herbal, grassy notes. Mouthfeel is light bodied and crisp with medium carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall, a solid pilsner. Nice fruity hop notes, especially in the flavor. Good malt character and balanced bitterness. Fairly crushable.

Can from The Davis Beer Shoppe. Pours hazy gold with a moderate creamy white head. Aroma has tangerine and a touch of weed. Med body. Flavor is tangerine, weed, earth. Doesn't reach dank for me. Close tho. Very dry for a hazy. Very bitter for a hazy. Very tasty.

Poured from a 16 oz can dated August 08, 2023. Aroma is fairly hop forward with lots of passion fruit, berry, tropical citrus, and tangerine. Light bready grain notes and hints of cracker. Faint alcohol notes. Pours a fairly clear, golden yellow color with a medium sized, medium thick, white head that recedes fairly steadily to a small film that lingers on the edges. No lacing and faint legs. Flavor is slightly sweet with medium light bready grain notes and hints of cracker. Medium low bitterness and faint alcohol notes. Moderately strong passion fruit, berry, and grapefruit hop notes with lighter tropical citrus and tangerine. Dry, slightly watery finish. Mouthfeel is light bodied and somewhat crisp with medium carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall, a decent hoppy pilsener. The hop notes are really nice and fruity and the alcohol is well hidden behind some malt sweetness and hop bitterness. For me the malt profile while having good flavor, could be a bit crisper and not finish so watery.

Poured from a 16 oz can dated July 05, 2023. Aroma is moderately hop forward with notes of passion fruit, stone fruit, tropical citrus and lighter dank, oily resin notes. Light grain notes and hints of alcohol. Pours a slightly hazy, golden orange with a medium large, medium thick, white head that recedes steadily to the edges where it lingers in clumps. Light lacing and faint legs. Flavor is somewhat sweet with light cracker malt notes. Medium bitterness and light alcohol notes. Medium light hop notes of storm fruit, especially peach and nectarine, passion fruit, tropical citrus and lighter dank, oily resin notes. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall, a solid pale ale. Balanced malt notes and bitterness with well hidden alcohol notes. Hop aroma is fine, but the hop flavor is great with tons of stone fruit.

Pint can - labeled 7.7% - dark brown pour - moderate lace - heavy on the coffee, with some cream sweetness, chocolate - mild smoke, but deep, almost burnt roastiness - nose presents much more smoke than the flavor, leaving me a little disappointed - nicely creamy and soft texture - earthy maltiness throughout - a mixed bag, but ultimately enjoyable.
