Description
We are a brewery and taproom located in downtown Cambridge. Our focus is on aroma-packed and flavor-driven beers, with an emphasis on New England IPAs, barrel-aged sours, and special seasonals. We brew a variety of one-off batches that allow us to pursue our various whims, and we don’t shy away from funk, twists on tradition, and unique ingredients.

Broadway draught, 2/19/25.
Murky/muddy. No head. Drab chocolate.
Can find zero info about this online, which is weird. Well it smells oaky as shit. Very old school. Dry, crusty malts barely show up and the oak runs wild. But it's not boozey.
More malt in flavor. Juicy barrel gives sherry notes, which I'm really in to. Wow this is a completely different beer in the flavor. Caramel, toffee, fruity green raisin, PX and such complemented and balanced by the sherry. Rich, but not syrupy, just sticky, with good dryness on the finish. Lingering wine, wood, fruity, round malts.

Deep golden-brass-maize. Small, white head. Medium haze.
Gentle spice, light floral and herbal notes, all underscored by a lemon-lime-like citrus character. Basic cracker and white bread gently balanced. Clean. No twang.
Spicy with deep fruity and herbal, approaching watermelon-guava-marijuana, notes. Really cool, interesting, innovative take on the most ubiquitous and overdone style on earth. All propelled by great maltiness, attenuation, flavor and balance.

Clear, very dark, with garnet highlights. Tan head steadily to ring.
Roasty, gently sweet with a bit of noticeable cacao but no other adjuncts jumping out at you, thankfully.
Soft, sticky, moderately sweet with chocolatey-fudge lingering nicely on the finish, alongside gentle roast and nutty cacao. Don't get much, of any lactose, which is awesome. Not the most complex, but it's not trying to be and it does it's sweet, chocolatey stout thing well

Brewery draught, 2/19/25.
Moderately-to-heavily hazy, lime-brass-golden. Small, white head.
Sweet and juicy but be coming drier and floral with good, spicy lemongrass-like notes lingering. Good mineral, a bit of chalk and some citrus. Clean, aromatic.
Juicy, sweaty-spicy with tropical fruit skin, white bread and lingering stone fruit mixed with guava and lemon. Cracker and biscuit break up the big malts up front and spice carries on the finish, leaving a refreshing, bitter character lingering. No twang.

Cask at gbbf 2022 day 1. Light hazed pale gold brushed dull gold, halo of white head. Aroma is big mouldy wood balsa, sour, grass, pepper. Flavour is composed of semi sweet sour, sick ble, green, pewper, moulvy balsa, terrible. Really bad.

375 ml bottle, thanks to ClarkVV. Aroma is nice rum, and light oak tannins. The tannic oak follows through in the flavor. I guess Barreled Souls has ruined me for a lot of BA brews. This is below average.

Bottled Jan 2023, drunk 12/8/24. Clear medium amber. Light beige head to spotty cover. Big rum with spice and floral notes and toffee and caramel. Round red fruits and a hint of vanilla with lingering bread and barrel tannin. Red fruit, floral rum and cane sugar with fruity toffee and almost a tartness. Medium-full body, high attenuation. The rum treatment is well-done. Maybe a bit too much classic bready Barleywine malt character, though.

CX draught, 12/6/24. Clear. Dark. Garnet highlights. Small tan head quickly to ring. Lots of char, oak, bourbon and tannin. Coconut and hints of pineapple. Light licorice and maybe a hint of alcohol. Vanilla is light, passing. Seems a bit lacking in sumptuous, deep malts, based on the nose... Rich, strong, very bourbon-forward, very dry, lots of oak and the vanilla is floral and dry too, exacerbating this. Good flavors all around, but ultimately it's too dry and lacks the malt depth the style demands to balance all of these dry, spicy, big flavors.

CX draught, 12/6/24. Clear dark cola-maple. Small, beige head, slowly to cover. A bit beany, with fruity coffee notes, earth, toast and scant base malt. Spicy and herbal hops accentuations. Clean, crisp, mildly hoppy with no real dark malt presence but just a shade less malt depth than I'd like. But the crisp yeast and hop on the finish goes a long way. Good attenuation. Very clean.
