Description
Noctua, named after the owl which is the symbol of Athens, was founded in 2016 by four friends. From the first moment we envisioned Noctua there was no discussion about where our brewery would be located. Of course in the center of our city, in Gazi. A car repair shop was transformed with a lot of work into an urban microbrewery, a reference center for craft beer in Athens that now acquires its own beer.

On tap at The Lazy Bulldog, pours a clear pale blonde with a small white head. Aroma brings out biscuity malt, with some mango and light floral hops. Flavour is along the same lines, with bright mango fruitiness, floral notes, and biscuity malt. Clean and bright, but nothing special.

330mL bottle, pours black with a small beige head. Aroma brings out earthy roasted malt, balanced by piney hops. Flavour has plenty of subdued earthy hops and a nice lightly roasted malt backbone. The hops are rather mellow but are still situated nicely. Well done beer.

Has a good creamy aroma with hops on the nose, but not overbearing. Big solid head and a suave Greek golden body, kinda like them statues all over the place that they got. Flavour is nice soft lager and hop notes, nothing too exciting but serviceable. Good mix of oil and water on the mouth. A nice golden ale, good drinker, slightly memorable.

Aroma is soft hints of grape and coffee. Has a nice solid coaster of head and a very black body. Flavour is a good mix of coffee and hints of dark bread. Not much of the IPA that I think was suggested in the name but I am enjoying it nonetheless. It's a decent brew, even if it feels more like a stout concoction than an IPA.

On tap at Hoppy Pub, pours a clear dark amber with a small white head. Aroma is quite dry, with earthy hops, some cardboard and bready notes. Flavour is oxidized, with cardboard, bready malt and light earthy hops. Tastes old, but I doubt it was even good when fresh. No good.
