Description
The Brasserie du Pays Flamand was founded in November 2006. At the start, a common passion of 2 childhood friends: Olivier Duthoit and Mathieu Lesenne, turned into a real large-scale project. The brewery first settled in Blaringhem, on the border of French Flanders and Artois. This is where Bracine, Anosteké and Wilde Leeuw were born. Today, a second, much larger production site has been set up in Merville, in order to meet growing demand. Each brew is a claim to their origins, to the northern terroir, and each beer, an invitation to conviviality. The different ranges offered testify to respected traditional know-how, a search for original taste, and a desire to discover new flavors. The Brasserie du Pays Flamand regularly collaborates with brewers from all over the world, bringing together cultures and ideas to offer you exceptional beers.

Bottle. It pours a clear, dark amber body under a dense, two-finger thick beige head. Toffee, dried fruits, hints of bread and fresh fruits on the nose. The flavor has a balancing bitterness, not that it’s very sweet. The same toffee, dried and fresh fruits and bread found in the aroma also shows up. Dry on the palate, with a nice carbonation. Some bitterness in the else malty, toffee-ish finish. Not my idea of a Christmas beer, but nice anyway. 121116

Bottle. It’s a hazy dark brown beer with a reddish hue. A small, dense dark beige head sits on top. The aroma is quite roasted, with licorice, some dried fruits and a citrus hint. It’s very smooth and soft on the palate, full bodied and pleasantly sweetish. Perhaps a tad too much carbonation. Roasted flavor too, some licorice and a faint fruity touch. Some bitterness and a spiced hint. Dry finish. A pleasant porter/stout with a Belgian twist. 130914

Bottle at home from Terre de Boissons Calais. Aroma is earthy and yeasty some hay and lemon. Hazed orange pour with a gtreyish thin white head. Flavour is some earthy hay and lemon. Some alcohol bite in the finish, but it hides the 8% well. Medium full body. Medium yeast and lemon duration. Decent French beer who would have thought?

33cl Bottle from erickok, thanks Eric! Slightly hazy golden colour, white head. Aroma of cat piss, candy, sharp alcohol, grapes. Flavour is of grapes, some hot alcohol, light hoppy, soft candy sweetness, light fruity, some green banana, bitter hoppy and alcoholic finish. Light to medium-bodied, soft mouthfeel. Reminded me a bit of Duvel Tripel Hop 2012, but a lesser version. Nice BSA with extra hop, nowhere near an IPA.

A brown yellow beer with a big and blond head. The nose is fruitfull, aromatic yeast, spices, hint of honey and banana, also some lemon. Taste is aromatic and fruitfull, quite strong spicyness, hint of pepper and sour citrusfruits. Medium bodied, high and smooth carbonation, easy and fresh to drink. Actually, quite nice beer; complex, easy to enjoy, but still characteristic.
