Waxed and capped growler shared at a tasting, 6/8/15. Clear copper, thin fizzy white head, decent retention. Aroma of coffee, peppermint, vanilla, pale malts. The taste is spearmint, vanilla, mild coffee. Medium bodied. Definitely weird but a nice surprise.

(Can, 0,473 l, at laiti’s, 20150613, thanks) The beer poured pale golden and hazy. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had grapefruit and citricness. Palate was light bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were grapedruit, citricness, pine, sweetness and bitterness. Aftertaste was bitter and fruity. Too one-dimensional but nice.

Aroma is odd and a bit musty with apricot, some sweet chocolate biscuits and truffles. Perhaps some coffee too? Flavour has cold coffee, truffles, chocolate. Like a cafe latte with too much sugar. The appearance and the taste are kind of confusing here – looks like a pale ale but tastes like a sweet (imperial) brown ale. Enjoyable, but drinking the whole can would take time – drinkability is not that great.

355ml can

Pours orange with a small head. Aroma of hops, caramely malts, hints of milk coffee, creamy notes and biscuits. Taste is sweet, hoppy and malty with loads of caramel, toffee, hints of syrup, and creamy milky notes. Finish is crisp, hoppy and sweet with hints of roastiness, caramel, creamy milk coffee notes. A bit strange. Alcohol is extremely well hidden.

Aroma has tropical fruits, pineapple juice and hints of biscuits. Feels a bit thin. Flavour has tropical fruits, pineappe juice and hints of cereal. Finishes with minerals, some grassy hops and menthol. Also grapefruit. A bit straightforward and the bitterness starts to feel a bit herbal and harsh at the end of the glass. Refreshing anyway.

Draught. Dark brown with slight reddish tint, large spongy beige head, peanuts and coffee beans aroma, low carbonation, thin body, sweetish raisin-mocha taste with alcohol undertones, longish finish. Quite a nice porter, interestingly complex.

Growler from Joe Canal’s in Lawrenceville, NJ. Amber orange color. Small creamy beige head. Nice lacing. Wonderful tropical fruit malt aroma. Notes of melon, caramel and sweet basil. Toasted malt flavor with ample peppery bitter hops to boot. Fruity notes with bready malt flavors. Very drinkable. Nicely done.
