Bottle at home. Aroma is roasted malt, smoke, dark bread, chocolate, some liquorice and a touch of salty seaweed. Flavour is above moderate sweet, a bit salty and above moderate bitter. Body is medium. Enjoyable stuff, I dig the smoke and touch of salt.

Bottle at home. Aroma is pumpkin spices, grainy malt, cinnamon, oak barrels, soft ripe fruit notes, prunes, touch of smoky peat. Flavour is sourish and light sweet with a hint of bitterness. Body is medium. Nice BA Imperial Pumpkin, suits the base style. If this were the standard, pumpkin beer would actually be something to look forward to.

Bottle at home. Aroma is malty and a bit nutty with floral notes, some yeast and a touch of bubblegum from the hops in the finish. Only a very slight hint of cocoa. Flavour is moderate sweet and light bitter. Body is medium. Well, this is certainly a disappointment, only mildly nutty and where’s the big chocolate??

Bottle at home. Aroma is sweet dark malt, caramel, dried fruits, raisins, touch of cocoa and alcohol. Flavour is sweet with some bitterness in the finish. Only slightly boozy. Body is above medium. Enjoyable Eisbock, lots of heavy Bock flavours, rich malt profile. I dig the name, ex-girlfriend, frozen and thawed, ready to be enjoyed for another round?

Bottle at home. Aroma is strong spices and herbs, caramel malt, cinnamon, liquorice, some notes of star anise and so forth. Only a hint of hops, really. Flavour is moderate to medium sweet and light bitter. Body is medium. Not a bad spiced herbal beer, but it’s not hoppy at all.

Bottle at home. Aroma is dark malt, roast, liquorice, some juniper and spicy/herbal notes. Flavour is medium sweet and bitter. Body is above medium. Like a lot of Jopen a bit heavy on the liquorice for my taste. Pretty enjoyable beer though, decent body and potent bittersweet flavour.

From tap at Jopenkerk, Haarlem. Fruity and malty aroma of biscuity malt, strong grapefruit and orange, tropical notes, candied ’sinassnippers’, and piney hops. Flavour is moderate sweet and medium bitter. Body is medium. Interesting one, very fruity with a biscuity malt backbone.

Bottle from Biernavigatie. Malty and hoppy aroma of sweet caramel malts, toffee, fruity hops, sweet dried fruits, soft touch of spiciness, a little warming alcohol, and mild candied notes. Flavour is sweet, bit sticky, with a very decent hoppy bitterness in the bittersweet finish. Body is above medium, slightly boozy. Nice US hopped bittersweet Barley Wine, delivers as promised.

Bottle from local bottle shop. Aroma is malt, plenty of spices, ginger, chocolate, caramel, medicinal, lots of salty liquorice, "’trekdrop", cloying cough drops. Flavour is quite sweet with some roasty bitterness in the finish. Body is above medium. Way too heavy on the spices and liquorice for me to be a winner.

Bottle from Kisjes Slijterijen, Meppel. Aroma is fruity hops, tropical fruits, firm grapefruit, floral and slightly perfumed notes, orange, soft spicy touch, hint of pine resin. Flavour is moderate sweet and nicely bitter. Body is medium. Plenty of hoppy tropical fruits, especially grapefruit, bittersweet, very nice IPA!
