Description
Ruddles Brewery was a brewery in Rutland, England. The brand is now owned by Greene King who still brew beers under the Ruddles name in Suffolk, although the current recipes are not those used at the original brewery.

Ruddles became owned by Watneys in 1986, and then Grolsch in 1992, it was sold to Morland & Co in 1997. Morlands moved production to Abingdon only for that site to be closed by Greene King which took over Morlands in 2000.

There is a separate entry for the pre 1986 independent Ruddles.

Quite full bodied with malty and fruity flavour. Found on the nice looking bottle in Blå Rock Café, Tromsø, Norway. Sampled it on cask last year and found the bottled version to have less body, more hops and less bitterness in the finish.

(Bottle 50 cl) Clear amber colour with a creamy, white head. Fresh, hoppy aroma. Malty and caramelish with distincy underlying notes from the added apple juice. Dry, bitter finish. 041105

Bottle. Unpleasant apple aroma. Copper colour, no head. Flavour is roughly bitter and slight appleish. Not a good combination.

[Cask at Charlie’s Bar, Copenhagen] A hazy orange beer with a nice orange head. The aroma is sweet with strong notes of apples - and so is the flavor, where the apple presence reminds me most of the apple core. The end is dry. Refreshing, but just not me.

Bottle: Amber coloured, thin but lasting white foam; fruity-malty nose, mixed with a moderate floral/ herbal hoppiness; moderate malty-bitter flavour, ending with a long, dry hoppy-aromatic finish. Fine, very "english" !

Bottle from Sainsburys. Orange amber colour, nice malts with caramel flavours. Caramel on nose not a lot of hop which lets down the finish slightly. Enjoyed the malty flavours though

(bottle) Deep amber colour with a medium foamy off-white head. Floral hoppy aroma with oranges and toasted malts. Soft sweetbitter flavour, medium body. Nice balance between the initial sweet and toasty maltiness, a nutty and fruity palate and the almost lasting bitterhoppy finish.
