Description
2005 saw the acquisition of Jennings Brewery by Marston’s PLC.

In 2009, the Cockermouth floods had a huge impact on the business and the site, forcing Marston’s to implement flood safety features and barricades throughout the site. A few short years after the floods, brewing transferred out of the town and a mass rebrand occurred.

Marston's retrained ownership of the brewery (through Carlsberg UK) until it closed its doors in November 2022

Ok... in a departure from normal rating... due to the INCREDIBLY high number of BLOND ales during the Shefiled trip that all blended into one another im breaking them down into three catagories Catagory A : Golden Yellow ... light fruity lemon hop nose ... soft dull light lemon hop Catagory B : Amber ... light dry lemon hop ... soft light lemon hop with a little malt in background Catagory C : Amber ... soapy lemon nose ... light brigh lemon hop Catagory D : Amber ... light grassy lemon hop ... dry grassy lemon hop Catagory E : Amber ... light grapefruit hop ... again light hop with a little grapefruit This is a Catagory B

Bottled (once again thanks to the craziest bartender in the world!). Rubyish amber colour with mediumsized slightly off-white creamy head. Aroma is caramel malts along with some grassy and wooden notes. Flavour is quite much the same along with some raisins/plum. A bit sweeter than I’m used to having ESB’s, but also very drinkable.

Clear pale gold with off-white haed. Subtle malty aroma with hint of spice. Medium body, rather fizzy. Foretaste is malty with fruity (citrus) notes and some metallic hints, with a pleasant but restrained long fairly bitter finsh. Overall, it’s a decent beer but rather light in flavour - easy drinking and refreshing, but not much character.
