Description
At Hop City, we create beer that inspires the curious, and fuels the restless.

We embrace the journey as much as you do. We take risks, make wrong turns, and just go for it.

For us, it’s about believing in curiosity. Because even though it may have killed the cat, before he died, that cat probably had a pretty good time.

Pours a slight hazy amber colour with a golden hue from the can. Big creamy warm cap, very long lasting with some creamy lace. The hoppy nose is quite nice with the grassiness, cilantro, ctirusy over a caramel malt base. This malt is quite mild as this is a light beer, but the hops are quite filling. Grassy, bitter and dry. Quite a nice Session IPA all-around. Love the hops used in this one.

Can. Pours a cola-looking dark brown colour with a big creamy light mocha-coloured head, nice stay and wavy creamy-foamy lacing. Big chocolate aromas with the chocolate malts, cocoa, with molasses, vanilla and mild roasted malts. Hints of cherries. These show up a little more in the taste adding a blend of sweetness and light sourness. The cocoa powder is in the back and the cherry notes show up a little more as it breathes, in the nose. Very nicely brewed for the title of the beer. Just a tad too much sourness in the taste with time, but the rest is good.

Can - Light grains and spicy hop notes. Clear gold with a rich white head. Light sweet dark sugar, touch of spicy hops. Nose and appearance are nice, but taste is sweet and not very crisp.

On tap at St. Augustine's, pours a hazy dark amber with a small off-white head. Aroma is very subdued, with bready malt and toasted caramel. Flavour is on the sweet side, with bready malt, toasted caramel and light brown sugar. Somewhat sweet, with a dry bready malt base. Decent.

This porter poured a deep black colour with a creamy, light brown head. Nice lacing. Scents include coffee, cocoa, light vanilla and cherries. First swig was sickly sweet, but not as thick as expected. Flavours of cocoa, cherry and wine? Finish is sweet with cocoa/cherry flavour lingering.

Can from the LCBO. Dark mahogany under a one finger khaki coloured head that fades slowly to a sheet. Nose is muted dark chocolate and coffee with a touch of dark fruit, vanilla and roast. Flavour is light+ chocolate bitterness and a slightly more prominent cherry tartness which could be better balanced. Mouth is medium- and slightly chalky with average carbonation. Just OK. 7-/4-/6/3/13-
