(Bottle 50 cl) An attempt at making a Danish abbey beer - and at least you gotta respect the innovative thoughts. But I’m not overly excited by the outcome. Reddish brown and hazy with a beige head. The beer is overwhelmingly dry and bitter with a marked impression from the bouquet of odd spices they put together for this brew. Weirdly the flavour I get the clearest is ginger, although that is not added. I find the spicing too much and rather inharmonious. Like unsweetened cough syrup. Interesting perhaps, but.... 041204

(Bottle 50 cl) Black as darkest night, no light slips through this. Even the head is dark, dark brown - a creamy "cappuchino"-like head. Very roasted malt - if not exactly burned. And then again the typical, fruity Brøckhose house character. Very delicate. 051004

(Bottle 50 cl) The brewery claims this to be a "Belgian Blonde" - but colourwise this is much closer to an "Amber" and if you pour the sediment it resembles more a "Dubbel". Very dry, fresh and fruity in the aroma. The flavours have an indefineable note of fruit drops making this odd and inharmonious. I suspect this may have been a bad bottle. Could need a re-rate. 060704

(Bottle 50 cl) Reddish brown with some impurities and a huge, impressive, stable head. Distinct, full malty body and a marked bitterness with a twist of acidity. A beer showing both character and craftsmanship. 120504

Draught at Carlsen’s Kvarter, Odense. Golden colour, slightly hazy. Traditional hefeweizen aroma with an unusual hint of vomit and rotting fruits. Flavour is much better than the aroma, but unusually sweet for a hefe, plenty of cloves though.

(Bottle 50 cl) Vintage 2003. Dark - almost black - with a brownish head that collapses rather quickly. Extremely full-bodied, aromatic and tasty with a fruity nose. Notes of both chocolate and licorice - especially the latter. This obviously is full of good ingredients - and a Christmas beer as they’re supposed to be. 201203

(Bottle 50 cl) Clasically pale and hazy with a huge, bubbly head. Very Belgian style with notes and coriander and orange peel and a rather marked bitterness. Refined - but I remember this being better when I had it on tap. 100903

(Bottle 50 cl) Bronze coloured and slightly hazy. Small head, low carbonation. Very delicate hop aroma, from no less than three different hops. Hoppy throughout but not overpoweringly so - there’s a solid malty base underneath. A delicious beer. (Funny to see how the Yanks consider this a mildly hopped beer! Well, your scene is a different one.) 250103

Cloudy orange-yellow, off-white creamy head. Light herb and fruit aroma. Fruit and slightly ashen yeast, feels like a strong sticky weissbier.

Hazy brightt yellow, small white head. Citrusy (dish water), yeasty nose. A bit sour, bitterish, yeasty, not quite in the style. Medium-bodied. Maybe not quite ready brew.
