Bottle, bought at the brewery. Brown sugar and caramel in the aroma. Sugary sweet flavor with molasses and caramel. Sticky mouthfeel. Extremely sweet, even for a dunkel weizen.

Bottle, bought at the brewery. Golden color, frothy head. Soft banana and orange aroma with a hint of glue. Thin and watery. Vegetable-like flavors with wort and glue. Banana. Unpleasant mouthfeel.

Bottle, bought at the brewery. Golden color. Soft flowery aroma with a hint of citrus. Citric, flowery flavor with a hint of vanilla. Light grassy hopbitter aftertaste. Hint of soap. Fresh, friendly and well balanced.

“Antonius Starkbier dunkel“, Flasche (50 cl) aus dem Getränkemarkt der Brauerei Michael in Weißenstadt. - Dunkles Mahagoni, kurzlebiger Schaum. - In der Nase schweres dunkles Malz, schwacher krautiger Hopfen und deutlicher Alkohol. - Antrunk massiv dunkelmalzig mit kernigen Röstmalzaromen und beträchtlicher aber nirgends dicker Malzsüße. Geschickt auf die Malzschwere abgestimmte, fruchtige (Orange) und leicht krautige Hopfenherbe. Etwas milder rezent, vollmundig aber nicht breit, leicht mineralisch. Der hohe Ethanolgehalt ist nicht vollständig kaschiert. Im Abgang leicht trocken und dezent hopfenherb abgerundet. - Unerwartet guter Doppelbock, dessen massive Röstmalzigkeit geschickt durch fruchtige Noten belebt wird. Ein wenig derb vielleicht, aber außerordentlich lebhaft und präsent. Fränkische Brauereien sind doch immer wieder für eine Überraschung gut.

“Antonius Starkbier hell“, Flasche (50 cl) aus dem Getränkemarkt der Brauerei Michael in Weißenstadt. - Tief orangegold, klar. - Bocktypisch malzig breite Nase mit Toastbrot, Vanille und viel Alkohol. - Antrunk satt und sämig karamelmalzig mit tiefer Malzigkeit, Anklängen an Honig, getreidig und leicht toastig, unterlegt von nicht zu knapper aber aromatisch vager Hopfenherbe. Mild rezent, mastig, deutlich fuselig. Im Abgang durch breite Malzigkeit gedämpfte Orangenschalen- und Kräuterherbe. - Schwerer Doppelbock, etwas ruppig und unverhüllt alkoholisch aber ehrlich und solide. Probierenswert.

Bottle @ Bayreuth. Pours clear Palle yellow with a White head. Rough husky grainy. Dry and floral hop taste with a cornish bitter aftertastenand slight dms. Dusty.

Bottle: Golden, hazy, medium-sized and quite stable white head; mild fruity-grainy and cellary (sic!) nose; moderate bitter-sweet flavour, light bodied and a bit fizzy; dryish bitter and fruity finish. Not exciting, but pretty well drinkable...

(bottle) Hazy, golden colour with a blond mid-sized foamy head. Discreet aroma of slightly doughy and delicately grainy malt with a tinge of grassy and slightly herbal hops. Mildly bitter and slightly sweet flavour, light to medium bodied with a crisp mf. Slightly doughy malt character with grainy spots, cautious hoppy accents; dry and mildly bitter hoppy finish und mineralic notes, lacking a malty sweet backbone. Mediocre. 12.I.17
