2008 Vintage as 1890 Stock Ale, from Citry Beverage Co, London. It pours clear orange, with a medium white head. The nose is sherry, white grape, fruit cake, tinned nectarine, icing sugar and candy cane. The taste is nectarine, tangerine, tinned peach, tangy fruit, candied peel, alcohol warmth, sherry and wood, with a dry finish. Medium body, moderate carbonation and sticky mouth-feel. Too boozy for me. Doesn’t quite have the body to carry it off.

Bottle at Chriso’s Pre-GBBF Shindig, 2012, London. Pours hazy amber with a creamy, white head. Sugary, light toasty malt nose, some leaves. Light sweet flavor with more leaves, some dry and toasty malts. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Fairly dry to finish with still more light, toasty malts. It’s fine overall, just a bit one-dimensional.

Bottled as ’Mr Lawrence Light Ale’ from the off licence of the same name. Orange pour with no head, this beer is on a low carb(onation) diet. Flatter than a bad Opera singer (or should that be fatter?). Aromas of orange peel and baked apple. Citrus and light malt flavour. Exceedingly dull!
