Beachwood Blendery is a small batch beer producer established in 2014 by the same creative minds behind the award winning Beachwood Brewing. Beachwood Blendery has embarked on an undoubtedly geeky quest to recreate the Lambic style beers of Belgium. Our beers are produced using ingredients, equipment, and brewing methods that are both steeped in tradition and admittedly modern.

On tap at Brouwer's Cafe for Barrel Bash (Big Wood) 2023, pours a clear dark amber / mahogany with a medium faded pink head. Aroma is full of gently tart elderberries, black pepper, and a hint of funk. Flavour is full of black pepper, with tart berries, moderate acidity, and plenty of funk. Not too acidic, but also not lambic-like. Good fruit funky beer. Very good.

Poured from a 750 ml bottle. Aroma has medium light lemon notes with lighter floral esters and hints of stone fruit and yogurt. Light grain notes and hints of rice and alcohol. Faint oak notes. Pours a very clear, brilliant, yellow-gold with a large, thick, frothy, white head that recedes fairly quickly to a small film that lingers for a bit in the edges. Flavor is moderately acidic with hints of grain and rice. Very low bitterness and hints of alcohol. Medium light lemon zip with hints of yogurt and stone fruit. Faint floral esters. Mouthfeel is light bodied and crisp with medium high carbonation. Faint astringency and faint alcohol warmth. Overall, this is a wonderful Berliner. So bright and citrusy with a light, crisp body. Good fermentation characteristics with balanced acidity and esters.

Poured from a 750 ml, 2017 release bottle. Aroma is a bit muted, which isn't surprising considering the age. Light mango notes with hints of lemon and green grape. Light grain and alcohol notes. Light oak notes. Pours a fairly clear, copper-orange with a small, thin, white head that recedes quickly and disappears. No lacing and faint legs. Flavor is fairly acidic with a light sweetness and light grain notes. Medium low bitterness and light alcohol notes. Medium light mango notes with some lemon and green grape notes. Faint oak notes. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall, a beer that really shows it's age. The mango notes are pretty light and overwhelmed by the acidity and lemon notes. I forgot the beer even had any peppers or spice as it's completely disappeared.

Poured from a 750 ml, 2017 release bottle. Aroma is very grape forward and fruity with nice muscat notes. Light lemon and apricot notes. Hints of oak, grain and alcohol. Light mustiness as it warms. Pours a clear, brilliant gold color with a medium sized, thin, white head that recedes quickly to the edges and disappears. No lacing and faint legs. Flavor is somewhat acidic but not too sharp with a dry finish and light grain notes. Medium light bitterness and light alcohol notes. Fairly strong muscat grape notes with some light grape must notes. Lighter lemon, apricot and oak notes. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall, a solid grape sour. Really nice grape notes with a dry malt finish. Light grain and oak notes. Could use more fermentation character, but the fruitiness is nice.

Poured from a 750 ml, 2017 vintage bottle. Aroma is fairly fruity with lots of pluot and plum note with lighter guava and lemon notes. Hints of coconut that becomes a bit more prevalent as it warms. Light grain and alcohol notes with hints of oak. Pours a slightly hazy, copper-gold with a small, thin, white head that recedes quickly to the edges and disappears. No lacing and faint legs. Flavor is fairly acidic and sharply so, but perhaps less so than the other variant of this beer. Light sweetness and light grain notes. Moderate bitterness and light alcohol notes. Medium light fruit notes of pluot, plum and guava. Hints of lemon, green grapes and coconut. Light oak notes. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall, a decent beer but not an impressive one. The age has certainly washed the fruit out a bit, but this is pretty acidic. A bit of an odd pithy, bitter note in the finish.

Poured from a 750 ml, 2017 vintage bottle. Label says fruit is apricot, nectarine, guava and Jasmin rice. Aroma is moderately fruity with notes of apricot and nectarine. Lighter notes of lemon and tart guava. Hints of grain and oak. Light alcohol notes. Pours a fairly clear, brilliant gold color with a small, thick, white head that recedes quickly to the edges where it lingers for a bit. No lacing and small legs. Flavor is rather acidic and fairly sharp with light grain notes. Medium low bitterness and light alcohol notes. Moderately strong underripe, tart, nectarine, apricot and guava. Hints of oak in the finish behind the lingering acidity. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation. Low, but present acidic astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall, an alright beer and my fault for sitting on it this long. The fruit is still pretty upfront, but has likely faded and lost some brightness. Very sharply acidic. Not really any funk notes.

Poured from a 750 ml bottle. Aroma is Brett forward with nice lemon, apricot and green grape notes. Faint herbal mustiness. Hints of oak and alcohol. Light grain notes. Pours a slightly hazy, pale, yellow-gold with a medium large, thick, fluffy, white head that recedes steadily to a small film that lingers. Light lacing and faint legs. Flavor has light acidity and sweetness with light grain notes. Moderate bitterness and light alcohol notes. Medium light grape, apricot and lemon notes. Light oak notes but quite a bit of oak tannins. Brett funk is Mouthfeel is medium light bodied with a dry finish and medium high carbonation. Low, but present astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall, a decent Brett saison. The aroma is really nice and fruity, but there is a bit of a dryness in the flavor that accentuates the oak tannins a bit. Aroma reminds me a lot of the SARA funk, but the flavor misses the mark.

Thanks Justin for sharing! Wineglass showing dark gold with sparse white foam.

The nose shows intense juicy notes of peach.

The palate is well carbonated and medium bodied. Moderately tart and very peach forward.

Bottle from the source: pours reddish with pink head. Aroma is funk and boysenberry. Pretty sour, not too acidic. Boysenberry is there enough. Pretty good.
