Bottle, tasting. Latest in their single hop series. Pours clear amber, small off white head, some lacing. Nice aroma with notes of citrus, tropical fruit and something exotic that I could not quite place. Flavor is much the same, little sweetness, medium bitter. Medium body. Quite nice actually.

Bottle at tasting. Pours opaque black, small brown head, little lacing, but I will assume that was due to the tasting pour. Aroma is coffee, dark roasted malt, chocolate. Flavor is the same, light sweet, medium coffee bitter. Medium light body, very little warming finish; well masked ABV.

Bottle at tasting. Pours clear brandy amber, small beige head, dissipates quickly, little lacing. Aroma is caramel dominated with perhaps a bit of raisin. Flavor is much the same, medium sweet, light metallic finish. Medium body. Nothing bad, nothing special. I will say that the ABV was well masked!

Bottle. Dark amber beer with a dark cream head. Grapefruti aroma. Grapefruit flavor with light dark malts. Medium bodied. Grapefruit and light spice lingers with light dark malts. Little pumpkin flavor and definitely no pumpkin pie spice - makes it one of the better ’pumpkin’ beers.

Pour is a cloudy orange with a small white head. Aroma is plenty of pine hops with a sweet oily malt. Flavor is an ok hop profile with a lot of sweet chewy malts to back it up. Full sweet, sticky malts left after the swallow. No date on the bottle but deffinatly has some age on it. It’s ok but fresher is always better.

Pour is a dark, hazy copper with an average whtie head. Aroma is a decent zesty hop citrus with some oily caramel malts. Flavor is some tropical fruit hoppyness with a heavy earthy malt. Finish leaves a caramel and spicy fruit on the tounge. Decent but not great. They really went for a heavy malt bill that kinda takes away from the hops used.

Bottle from BevMo Salinas. Nose is a light pumpkin like a candle burning in a carved one gives off on Halloween and a hint of sweetness. Clear copper with a small beige head. Flavor is a bit of light bitterness, tobacco, cardboard with only a slight bit of pumpkin. Not my kind of pumpkin ale with no apparent spices to perk it up. I prefer the spice part of the spice/herb/vegetable category.

Bottle from the Arden BevMo. Pours dark amber with a frothy beige head. Aroma is a smooth roast brown sort of thing. Not a trace of pie spice (there isn’t supposed to be any). Med body with frothy carb. Flavor is slightly earthy roast brown. There’s a veg component. Likely pumpkin, but I’m not good with unspiced pumpkin. It coats the mouth a little bit. Suddenly I get a little hint of the aroma when a carved pumpkin gets overheated by a candle. It’s pretty dry. Suggesting astringent. Not a trace of heat. The finish is pretty much tasty brown ale, perhaps with a pumpkin seed hint. Ah the elusive flavor of unspiced pumpkin. Kudos to these brave brewers who eschewed pie spice!
