Bottle at home in Hackney - picked up from Clapton Craft. Pours black-brown with a small, creamy beige head. The nose holds peat, roast, coffee. Medium to big sweet flavour with sturdy ashy roast, more peat, rich black coffee, scorched earth. Full bodied, lightly chewy, with fine carbonation. Moderately warming finish, more peaty accents, bittersweet coffee, dark chocolate, earth, nips of raisins. Quite nice overall.

Rerate with Holmen1 at the wonderful Dog & Bell 07.08.22. Clear dark golden amber. Now this tastes like a proper bitter ought to taste. Wonderful aroma and taste of pale malt, crystal malt and tawny marmalade. Well-balances and full of taste. Decent bitterneas is lingering on. From cask at The Pelton Arms, Greenwich, London, 27.01.22. Pale amber. Diminishing off-white head. Slightly off aroma and taste of pale malt, amber malt, wet cardboard and moderate hops. Was probably better a day or two ago. [4/3/4/3/8=2.2]

Bottle on 25th Dec 2021. Pours ruby copper with the shallowest of foam and spot lacing. Caramel malt aroma. Nutty malts in-mouth with some hints of candied fruits. Biscuit malt finish with hazelnut nuttiness. Zingy mouthfeel and a fair amount of body.

Half-pint, cask after breakfast at Shakespeare's Head. Shared with Finn. Almost clear golden body, low, white head, clingy lacing. Restrained grassy hops on the nose, a floral scent to it. The taste character has got a touch of leafy hops, hints of citrus, and earthy malts. Dry ending with distant bitterness. Fair enough. (London 24.11.2021).

Gravity cask at Pigs Ear 2021 - Hackney. Pours hazed yellow-gold with a lasting, bubbly white head. Lightly sweet, has supportive pale bread, melon, tangerine, a little pithy grapefruit, peach, low bitterness. Light bodied with fine carbonation; decent condition. Nice balance to finish, more bright, citrusy hops, soft rindy bitterness, pale bread. Good stuff.

Gravity cask at Pigs Ear 2021 - Hackney. Pours clear gold with a small, foamy white head. Lightly sweet, some crispy pale grains, a little grass, a faint plastic note. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Moderate bitterness to finish, more pale grains, light astringency, no cranberry. Not great.

Gravity cask at Pigs Ear 2021 - Hackney. Pours lightly unclear gold with a frothy, white head. Lightly sweet with some pale grains, light husky bitterness, straw, lemony accents. Light bodied with fine carbonation; decent condition. Finishes with nips of grass, tangerine, crispy pale grain, pale mats. Nice overall.

Cask at Pigs Ear '21, day two, 01/12/21. Pitch black with a decent tan cap that thins to a swirl. Nose is dark malts, bitter roast, coffee bean, charr, hint of vanilla. Taste comprises chocolate, dark malts, charr, spice, coffee grinds, ashen tones, brown sugar melt. Full bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a balanced rising boost. Solid cask impy.

Cask at Pigs Ear '21, day two, 01/12/21. Black with a good sized tan cap. Nose is blackcurrant, light roast, dark malts, mixed berry fruits, baking powder. Taste comprises raspberries, blackcurrant, coco powder, dark malts, akin to a Guinness and black at times! Medium bodied, fine carbonation, light drying close. Not bad if a touch overly sweet for my liking.
